Someone apparently donated a live grenade to Goodwill about a week ago, but police detonated the grenade without mishap Thursday after store personnel told them about it.

The Winston-Salem Police Department said that officers were called to the Goodwill store at 528 Waughtown St. to deal with what police classified as “found property.”

On arrival, officers found a hand grenade sitting on a desk where it had been placed by store employees.

My wife and I have a rule every year for spring cleaning. If you haven't worn or used it in the past year, it needs to go to Goodwill. This rule applies to weapons, drugs, used hypodermic needles, and everything else.
