Really, what bad could come of it at this point. I'd rather it be this year than a future year. Seems inevitable at some point. Plus, could pull in additional fans. We have a lot of great players on this team who I think most NFL fans would love to see (Wood, EJ, CJ, FJ, SJ--who would be hilarious on the show).

On the plus side, Stevie would be certain to have a career year with all that media attention...well, if he didn't do something monumentally stupid with all that media attention

Yup, yet we spend all year posting on message boards defending our team and lambasting others outside of the region who "don't even know who's on our roster."

I think it would open up some eyes to the talent on our team to these uninformed people. I'd rather be the lovable loser than the pathetic loser many paint us to be.

I don't get upset when people don't know who's on the Bills. I'm certainly not super familiar with all of our opponents, especially those outside our division.

I am a diehard football fan. Far too many people (not necessarily on this site because it's a Bills site) nowadays profess to be football fans but they are really just fantasy football guys. They don't really love the game. If you truly love the game, then you, like me, are aware that Hard Knocks is the best show on television for real football fans. I watch every second of that show when it's about a team I could care less about. This last season on the Bengals was one of the better seasons yet (how they recovered from the Hard Knocks distraction to go 11-5 and win the AFC North is nothing short of miraculous. Just imagine if they weren't on the show, they would've gone undefeated). Do you have any idea how amazing it would be if the Bills were on Hard Knocks? It would be like porn for Bills fans. To be able to get a candid look at these guys behind the scenes would be unreal. And of course, before I even opened this thread, I knew there would be a percentage of people saying, "no! It's a distraction!" and of course, there were. Do you really mean that? Or are you just saying that because you think it makes you sound smart? I think anyone being honest with themselves would be elated if the Bills were on Hard Knocks.

Well said. The "trying to sound smart" angle has always been the underlying theme in the crowd here that downplays QB too imo (it's the OL/playcalling!). Fortunately they're becoming a minority finally.

Yes...the NFL implemented this after last season...from the linked article, here are the specific rules:

"If no team volunteers to be featured in the show, which provides a documentary-style look into a team's training camp, the league will require one team to be on the show if they meet certain parameters:

1. The team has a returning head coach.

2. The team hasn't made the playoffs in the last two seasons.

3. The team hasn't been on the show in the last 10 years."

The Bills are one of 8 teams to meet the criterion.

"

Right, but none of those rules mean every team has to do it. Only reason I care is most feel if we have to do it, let's do it now and get it over with.

the only way its inevitable is if we cant make the playoffs at a respectable rate.

As much as I'd like to see it -- I don't think it would be good for the team and two, I doubt it will happen. The 8 teams that qualify include NY Giants, Chicago and Pittsburgh -- 10X the number of fans (and VIEWERS) -- it's all about ratings ---

Stillers will never do it. NYG have no compelling players, IMO. Bears maybe, esp with Cutler's wife already a reality starlet.

I don't think teams have a choice --- if no team volunteers, the NFL picks one based on a criteria -- only 8 teams qualify currently against that criteria -- Buff, Jax, Pitt, Chic, NYG, Oak, Ariz ---

yes this wud be awesome.. who cares if some fans get butt hurt about it we've sucked for 15 years and a reality tv show can't make that any worse, besides phins made playoffs a year after they had it.. bengals made the playoffs this year

believe it or not the attention the players get from it probably helps their egos and performance.. football is entertainment folks exposure is never a bad thing

This is a one-way ticket to destroying everything you want to believe about your favorite players.

"Favorite players" would imply that Bills fans actually like our players, unless you meant Favorite Whipping Boys. If the posts I see here and on Facebook are any indication, Hard Knocks might finally show Bills fans that players are just people too, trying to live their life.

edit, sidenote: im kinda shocked that the "Yes" is winning, or received any votes at all. I guess fans are finally starting to get to the "it certainly cant make us any worse" point. I remember in threads from previous years, the consensus being a pretty strong NO.

Eh, like Jim Rome says...the minute you think you really "know" anything about your favorite player they end up doing something horribly wrong reminding us that they live in a different universe than the rest of us.

No, no. A thousand times no. I don't see how any team would want, let alone like, that distraction in their processes.

Just make Dallas the permanent home of Hard Knocks and be done with it.

GO BILLS!!!

Agreed. Don't want it here. Maybe after 6-7 winning seasons...

A) We don't need the distraction.

B) We don't need to highlight how mediocre/bad we are. It's already embarrassing enough being a Bills fan outside of Buffalo.

I wear my Bills hats year round. I wear my Bills jersey to Jags games. I'm not embarrassed. If the Bills were on it, it would be cool to see others perspective of our team. People would know the names of our faceless players. The self loathing of people to say 'i don't want people too see our ineptitude' is ridiculous. I say this team needs a spot light on them.

Yes to all this.
