Pete Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Man these things have been a nuisance over the years. The cider vinegar, dash dishsoap, in a jar with plastic wrap with holes works ok. But my question is proactive. Is there anything I can do- ie spray fruit with vinegar, store fruit in fridge, etc- that can prevent fruit flies to begin with? I am nervous to bring fruit in, after finally ridding myself of the the fruit flies for the 10th time
Steve O Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Wash your produce (especially bananas) as soon as you get home. The fridge is a good idea, I place a paper towel over things that are left out (peaches for example, they just ripen better out of the fridge). http://www.thriftyfun.com/tf/Pest_Control/Flies/Preventing-Fruit-Flies.html
Buffaloed in Pa Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Never had them. We get them in our crusty bodyshop though. Usually from old fruit.
Just Jack Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Stop getting your fruit out of the dumpster behind the grocery store.
Kevin Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Have you ever seen a grown man with a full beard naked?
Chef Jim Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 Wine is fruit, right? Most all fruits can be fermented. And if you want then distilled for some real firewater.

dib Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 time flies like an arrow, fruit flies like a banana
Jim in Anchorage Posted January 21, 2014 Posted January 21, 2014 last post wins needs to come back. These knock offs are multiplying like well, fruit fly's.
