ExiledInIllinois Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 almost as absurd as a customer at victoria secret being told not to breast feed in a closed area like a changing room.....oh wait... Nobody uses the "alley." :-P :-P
YoloinOhio Posted January 18, 2014 Posted January 18, 2014 When you all saw this story, did it surprise you? At all? That is what says it all about Eugene.
bobobonators Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Jamarcus Russell had 13 tds and 7 ints one year. The arrow was pointing up. When a qb has 12 tds and 25 turnovers in one year and home fans were begging for Matt Simms to start, you really have to work hard to come up with "the bright side". But hey, a bills fan found it... In a jet qb. Jamarcus Russel and Geno Smith have nothing in common other than their race. You really have to work hard to be that simple-minded.

The Poojer Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 What's purple drank? They both weren't very good NFL QB's! Maybe Eugene likes the purple drank.

jimmy10 Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Nope. I'm the mayor of simpleton, but I know one thing.... That your senses are working overtime?
KD in CA Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 don't usually expect that from simpletons, do you? Don't think you're king for a day over it.
Tim Tindale Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 Russell and smith are/were both sloppy turnover machines at qb that can't/couldn't read nfl defenses. I'd surprised if smith is still in the nfl in a couple years. You can't take care of the football at qb and you aren't a model citizen, you aren't worth the headache. Nothing to do with race. Btw, smith is only the second qb in history to have a qbr under 15 5 games in a row with Russell the first (last link). Not the only one to draw the "simple-minded" comparison... http://www.sportstalk200.com/nfl-news/geno-smith-playing-as-bad-as-jamarcus-russell/2013/ http://www.stampedeblue.com/2013/4/25/4264786/geno-smith-questioning-his-character-is-like-insulting-his-family http://isportsweb.com/2013/12/04/new-york-jets-quarterback-geno-smiths-roller-coaster-rookie-year/
aussiew Posted January 19, 2014 Posted January 19, 2014 I don't care if he was thrown off the plane or he stormed off himself. It's still a spoiled brat attitude that was even obvious during the 1st round of the draft. EJ has some class and humility at least.

He acted like he was going through some kind of real, actual hardship when he had to wait until the 2nd round to be drafted. It was insulting.

The Poojer Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 just for the sake of argument, and i know this could never happen... what if he had his headphones unplugged and grabbed from his head, as one of the stories indicated...albeit by his camp....allegedly. and rather than being 'thrown off' or him 'storming off' the plane, instead he saw a potential issue and walked off the plane to avoid further commotion. keep in mind...i am an accused simpleton so I accept my flaws... I don't care if he was thrown off the plane or he stormed off himself. It's still a spoiled brat attitude that was even obvious during the 1st round of the draft. bobobonators Posted January 20, 2014 Posted January 20, 2014 (edited) Russell and smith are/were both sloppy turnover machines at qb that can't/couldn't read nfl defenses. Not the only one to draw the "simple-minded" comparison... http://www.sportstal...s-russell/2013/ http://www.stampedeb...ting-his-family http://isportsweb.co...er-rookie-year/ 1. Just b/c you post links to web sites and bloggers/ "writers" nobody has ever heard of (and never will hear of again), which so happen to share a similar opinion as you, doesn't change my mind 2. Russell was selected #1 overall in the 2007 NFL draft and was given a fat contract. He came out of college with huge expectations. His "tools" were unmatched and many scouts considered him to be one of the best QB prospects to ever come out of college and into the pros. Geno was none of that. 3. Russell was not an immediate starter in Oakland and sat on the sidelines for months until finally starting a game in December (ya, you forgot that little tidbit, didn't you). Geno was thrown to the fire from day 1, on an offense that everyone knew had 0 weapons. 4. Regarding your QBR comment (which is factually incorrect), when Russell had that stretch was in 2009 - in his 3rd season in the NFL; and Russell didn't have a QBR under 15 five games in a row, he had a QBR of 15 or less in 9 games in a row. So no, I'm not going to waste my time reading that article you managed to find somewhere in the depths of cyberspace. As for Geno, he DID NOT have a QBR less than 15 five games in a row - he had a QBR less than 15, three (3) games in a row, which he also happened to follow up with arguably the best stretch of his season where he played pretty damn well the final 4 games of the season. So Geno took his licks for about 60% of the season and then progressed nicely during the last quarter of the season. Russell was a complete unmitigated disaster in his 3rd season in the NFL. Again, where is the comparison? 5. Geno Smith, in his rookie season, finished 8-8. Russell had 8 total wins (for games he started) his entire career in Oakland (yeah, 3 years). So similar, I know. JaMarcus Russell is considered arguably the biggest bust in NFL history. Geno will never be that, however bad he is now or in the future. A much fairer comparison would be comparing Geno Smith to Mark Sanchez. Their rookie season stats are almost identical, except Geno threw for more yards, had a higher completion %, higher passing yards/attempt, a higher QBR, and more TD's (overall). Only difference between the 2 is that Sanchez and the Jets were able to back into the playoffs his rookie year at 9-7 and Geno was not at 8-8. But no, such a comparison is too difficult for some; comparing a black player to a non-black player (or vice/versa) is a stretch I suppose. It's so much easier to simply sit back, look at Geno and think, "yup, that's the next Jamarcus Russell right there." Edited January 20, 2014 by bobobonators
