Sisyphean Bills Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Maybe Mike Zimmer doesn't know Monte Kiffin? He was better then wannstadt Are you a mind reader?
Wayne Cubed Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 WOW... http://profootballta...ve-coordinator/ [grabs popcorn] Mike Zimmer's first hire. Wow. Maybe he'll just end up being a figure head for Zimmer ala Pettine for Rex?
thebandit27 Posted January 16, 2014 Author Posted January 16, 2014 For whatever it's worth, he's also trying to bag Norv Turner as his OC Maybe he feels he'll assert his own will on the defense and Edwards can just be the caretaker
reddogblitz Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 This is good news for us. We play them next year!
hondo in seattle Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Maybe Chan saw some real potential in Edwards that he just wasn't able to develop. Maybe Zimmer, a strong veteran DC, will be able to mentor Edwards in ways Chan couldn't. Zimmer will probably be calling the shots in any case.
Kirby Jackson Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 He was better then wannstadt That's like saying "he was a better 1st round pick than John McCargo." Comparing anyone to Wanny is setting the bar pretty low.

Well, our scouts had him with the same grade as Haloti Ngata. PS: McCargo was more productive than Aaron Maybin in terms of tackles. http://www.pro-footb.../M/McCaJo22.htm http://www.pro-footb.../M/MaybAa99.htm http://www.pro-football-reference.com/players/T/TrouTo00.htm

Why would you knowingly hire a "project" as your DC? These first time HC's make the craziest staffing decisions (over and over). It is to laugh.....
DC Tom Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 And Wade Phillips can't even get an interview for DC.
Sisyphean Bills Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 And Wade Phillips can't even get an interview for DC. Not enough of a "rush" in hiring a known producer.
Beerball Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Then why on earth would he hire Edwards? Why would you knowingly hire a "project" as your DC? These first time HC's make the craziest staffing decisions (over and over). It is to laugh..... Nah, Zimmer will control the defense.

I was just picking a bad Bills 1st. You have plenty of options.

Maybe he is an organized and efficient coach that will be able to best execute the desires of the HC?
bmur66 Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Wow. I actually forgot who G.E. was and had to read these posts to remember
dave mcbride Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 Re Zimmer and Edwards, remind me again - who was the OC under Chan Gailey? I certainly don't recall.
Mr. WEO Posted January 16, 2014 Posted January 16, 2014 maybe he is a good task man? Maybe he is an organized and efficient coach that will be able to best execute the desires of the HC? Like "get me a sam-wich"? Maybe this is a recurring problem hiring coordinators as first time HCs. They all want to continue to coordinate the D or O. Then they realize they really aren't good enough to be HC and D/O coordinator. They they realize the "Modkin" thye hired is a boob. Then they are fired after 2 or 3 years and become a position coach somewhere....
