Big Turk Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Story reported here saying if he wants a HC shot he better get a hair cut because they want a CEO type of HC not a guy with long hair and a biker type look http://www.thepostgame.com/blog/style-points/201401/report-rob-ryan-being-denied-head-coaching-jobs-because-his-hair
4merper4mer Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 It is funny that self promotional hair will work for players like Poz and Polamalu to be seen as better than they actually are, but that for coaches it is seen as a negative.
JPS Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 It's just like any other industry. You have to look the part and play the game. He doesn't.
Mr. WEO Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 This is a silly story. If Bellichick or either of the Harbaugh's decided to gro frohawks at the end of their current contracts, owners would be lining up to hire them. Some owners are dumb, but not that kind of dumb.
The Big Cat Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 They said the same thing about Ray Horton's dreads. Horton who coached a bang-up defense in Arizona in 2012, only to be overlooked in favor of Arians seems now to be repeating the process in Cleveland for a HC TBD. He did, however, cut the dreads.

Yeah I guess it's a good thing for Bellichick that sleeveless sweatshirts aren't frowned upon.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Yes, because meathead jack del rio in his black suit has the natural look of a CEO.
dpberr Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 I'd kill to have that much hair at his age. I don't know why the NFL wouldn't be celebrating that.

A black guy passed over for an Arian?
Gugny Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 What, exactly, has Rob Ryan done to warrant a HC job?
Maybe Someday Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 This is a silly story. If Bellichick or either of the Harbaugh's decided to gro frohawks at the end of their current contracts, owners would be lining up to hire them. Some owners are dumb, but not that kind of dumb. True...because they've all proven they can get the job done. Is Rob Ryan even that good of a coach? He's been the DC of how many teams over the past few years?
dwight in philly Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 True...because they've all proven they can get the job done. Is Rob Ryan even that good of a coach? He's been the DC of how many teams over the past few years? agree.. the 60's relic look probably doesnt help him.. if it was me, and that is an issue, i would cut the hair..
MarkyMannn Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 True...because they've all proven they can get the job done. Is Rob Ryan even that good of a coach? He's been the DC of how many teams over the past few years? How is the Dallas D without him this year? Uh....AWFUL
GunnerBill Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 And to follow the post above... this year's wildcard game in Phili was his first play-off game as a coordinator. He has done a nice job in New Orleans this year and the job he did in Dallas doesn't look so bad now when you consider how badly Kiffin did with the same players.... but he wouldn't be on my list for possible Head Coaches, hair or no hair.
Buftex Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 True...because they've all proven they can get the job done. Is Rob Ryan even that good of a coach? He's been the DC of how many teams over the past few years? In all fairness, Jerry Jones was a frigging idiot for canning him after last season....all he did was go to New Orleans, and turn one of the historicaly worst defeneses into a top 5 unit...I am no fan of the Ryans (Buddy or Rex) but he would seem to warrent a look when guys like the Broncos OC are getting heat, for letting Payton Manning play like Payton Manning.
GunnerBill Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Is Gase getting heat? Or is he just getting considered by the Browns? And let's be honest about their record for getting coaching appointments right.........
MarkyMannn Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Lets see: Dallas with BR last year 19th. This year 32nd New Orleans last year 32nd. With BR this year 4th
Coach Tuesday Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 Maybe he should try out for Game of Thrones instead. He does look ridiculous, but I doubt it's the reason he's not getting chances. It's probably more about his reckless insubordinance and uncontrollability.
NoSaint Posted January 15, 2014 Posted January 15, 2014 i dont know that its so much the hair, as much as the hair tends to go hand in hand with with things like going out to a dive bar after big wins and buying everyone a round being one of the common ways that he has generated headlines this year.
