I hate the Patriots so much that given the current state of affairs with the Bills, my favorite football day of the year has been the day they are eliminated. I have found myself thanking the Ravens, Giants and others quite a bit. This week, I am forced to root for the Colts, which is no big deal, but it seems like an effort in futility.

Oliver's little boy, did what he could last week to get back on the golf course, but Andy Reid and several freak injuries conspired against his horrible play and allowed Indy back into the game. During the comeback, Ollie junior actually played pretty well including a Johnny on the spot fumble recovery touchdown after his coaches didn't want to risk having him throw in the tight spot near the goal line. When the Chargers won on Sunday I realized that my favorite week would be stalled this year. In fact, I worry about Denver beating NE and would worry about SD in NE. My fear was growing that the Pats would make the Super Bowl even though I think all 4 of the NFC teams can handle them.

As the week has moved along, and I know it sounds crazy, but I actually think Luck has a chance against the Pats. Here is why:

Thad Lewis played well enough for the Bills to beat the Pats...the special teams hurt them.

The Colts special teams have improved this year. They stunk in the pre season when Goodwin ran back a kick, that's for sure but we regressed and they progressed.

The Colts defense is indeed worrisome but clearly the Pats have lost some weapons. Amderola or whatever his name is seems to get hurt all the time too. Maybe he'll go out in the first quarter.

The Colts did not play the Pats this year so there is less cheating opportunity but not that much less.

On the downside:

Expecting Luck to play equal to or better than Lewis is somewhat realistic, but not a sure thing.

It is a road game so Luck can't start the game horribly like he did against KC. They have to get ahead because the crowd helped the comeback and won't be there Saturday.

I have to believe that Tom Brady can do what Alex Smith did. I hope there are a few fumbles or something.

In summary, when I saw the matchup I was upset but now I don't think everything is lost. Let's go Luck. One time.

P.S. Why do the Pats as the #2 seed get an extra day of rest against the #1 seed Broncos if both win? That's a joke.
