B-Large Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 You haven't been in an Applebees recently, have you? Lol, I guess not... Update: plans a reasonable, the website easy to navigate. But the questions they ask, confusing and convoluted. I'll share more later.
3rdnlng Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 525/month for my wife and I in Maine- 6k individual, 12k family. PPO, no limits on providers... COBRA, 1260 for the month, though that does include vision and dental What amazes me is talking to people here locally, and they rave about the Maine Co-OP plans..... And that they would never sign up for Obamacare.... People are so dumb. There is no such policy called Obamacare, and they bought their Co-OP insurance on an ACA exchange. Americans really lack rigor for anything above an Applebees menu.... I thought you were in Colorado?
/dev/null Posted September 15, 2014 Posted September 15, 2014 You haven't been in an Applebees recently, have you? Buffalo area Applebees have really been hurting since Marshawn left town
B-Man Posted September 16, 2014 Posted September 16, 2014 How many people are poised to lose 2014 ObamaCare coverage? The Obama administration bragged about its enrollment numbers in the compulsory ObamaCare system, but the lack of eligibility-confirmation systems in the exchanges may take a big bite out of those numbers shortly. Just how big a bite is anyone’s guess, however, with warnings to multiple groups that either their coverage or their subsidies may stop at any time. Last night, HHS warned that 115,000 people currently covered by ObamaCare might lose their insurance thanks to immigration issues: The Obama administration on Monday said 115,000 people in 36 states could lose their private health insurance under Obamacare after Sept. 30, because of unresolved data problems involving their citizenship or immigration status. … Under President Barack Obama’s Affordable Care Act, people who lack insurance can be eligible for coverage if their immigration status is in order, while federal subsidies can be available depending on an applicant’s annual income. More than 8 million people enrolled in 2014 coverage through the federal and state marketplaces. But about 2.5 million submitted applications with missing entries or data that did not match federal records. Officials said those with outstanding issues have failed to provide accurate information about their situations or have simply not responded to repeated efforts to reach them. Critics have also blamed problems on federal data collection systems including the federal marketplace website, HealthCare.gov. The next group of people won’t lose their coverage, but could lose the subsidies that help pay for it. This group didn’t get their income levels verified, on which those subsidies are calculated. That verification was supposed to be built into the exchanges at both the state and federal levels, but HHS didn’t get around to building the back-end systems for those functions until, er … well, they still haven’t built them: The Obama administration announced Monday it will cut off tax subsidies to about 360,000 people if they do not offer proof of their income in the next two weeks. Nanker Posted September 25, 2014 Posted September 25, 2014 Wifey got her first look at he company's 2015 healthcare coverage options yesterday. Deductibles went from $300 to $2,600 on the cheapest plan. No pharma coverage but the company will kick in some to a FSA - like savings that is portable and any "unused" amount can be carried over to the following year. Their old plans qualified as "Cadillac" and we're dropped because the company didn't want to pay the "fine" for being generous to their employees. However we're assured that the Fed employees remain untouched wrt their Cadillac healthcare coverage options. No worries there - who's going to pay the fine anyway... The taxpayers of course!!!!! I would like to **** down the open throat of every person who voted for this law.
B-Large Posted September 26, 2014 Posted September 26, 2014 (edited) I thought you were in Colorado? Was, compadre. My wife and I are in Camden Maine for a year, I am attending fine furniture school.... We will probably end up back in Denver- Maine is beautiful, but the property taxes and expenses here are full retard. There are pieces of me that would love to have a small home here, make furniture and gave a schooner moored in a harbor... But let's be honest... How much do we think furniture designers/ makers earn?? Hint: probably not much! Lol It's sobering going in a high tax state again... How easy we forget. Edited September 26, 2014 by B-Large

You can get river/oceanfront at a reasonable price and taxes are low.

Windsor Chairmakers, or the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship? My inlaws lived in Rockport for years. It's a great part of Maine.

Too bad you can't eat cabinets. No, cabinets are very hard to digest. It's the cellulose. Seriously, check into Delaware. You can get river/oceanfront at a reasonable price and taxes are low. That's the second vote for Delaware I've gotten in the last few weeks. I'm gonna give my wife a east coast winter before be lay down any roots... Lol Windsor Chairmakers, or the Center for Furniture Craftsmanship? My inlaws lived in Rockport for years. It's a great part of Maine. Center for Furniture Craftsmanship. I am doing the 9 month comprehensive program, then will try to stay on for a year studio fellowship if I can. We rented a place in Rockport, and yeah, it's pretty amazing place. It's kind of strange, this area has very wealthy people who live in Camden and have big boats docked in the harbor, and blue collar folks who work two jobs just to stay afloat... But they all hang out together like its a high school party. There doesn't seem to be a status divide, I find it refreshing. Where did the in laws go?

Delaware winters should be much milder than Maine's.

3rdnlng Posted September 28, 2014 Posted September 28, 2014 GOVERNMENT HEALTHCARE: No New VA Patient Schedule System Until 2020. . I thought the backlog was fueled by demand not the system. Where I live the VA is doing fine.

Sister in-law and her husband just retired and moved to Stonington. You're right about the people and their money from "Away" and the locals. We got to know a few of the locals from our visits there, but the in-laws were always from "away" even though they lived there for 20+ years. While you're up that way check out the Farnsworth in Rockland, and take the trip to the Olson House in Cushing and see where Wyeth did so much of his work. Maine's a sweet spot of the world.

My wife is on my plan, and we use concierge medicine, so this doesn't impact us, but the cheapest and most popular workplace plan in her office jumped from $212/mo. with a $1500 deductable to $394/mo. with a $5000 deductable.

There's going to be a lot of this coming down the pike in the next few weeks. Our old primary care doc went the concierge route a few years back and we didn't follow him there. The value proposition just isn't there for primary care... $3k each for us plus the regular hospital and pharma healthcare premiums. I just couldn't see doing that.

I pay my primary, who owns the practice, 16k/year for my entire family. This covers unlimited access to the urgent care he owns, and full covered access to the doctor group he's aligned with, which includes jet about every type of specialist under the sun, which spans the entire county. If I get sick on a business trip, he's got a guy for me. Edited September 30, 2014 by TakeYouToTasker

Nanker Posted September 30, 2014 Posted September 30, 2014 So he has pot connections throughout the country? Oh sorry, wrong thread. TYTT, that sounds like a reasonable setup, but a far cry from why my old guy had. He was nice and personable, but as I said, the value proposition was just not compelling for us.
