The Affordable Care Act II - Because Mr. Obama Loves You All

Recommended Posts

There are NO Medicaid cuts in GOP reforms. For decades, the press has done a rotten job dealing w budget stories. Here are the numbers:

My 1st job on the Hill was in '83. The Fed gvt spent $19 billion on Medicaid that year. When I was at the White House in '01, we spent $129 billion.

Today, Federal Medicaid spending is $389 billion. Under GOP reforms,it will increase to about $500 billion in 2027.

With Obamacare, it would go to $624 billion in 2026.

There IS NO CUT............

In Washington, spending always goes up. It's just a matter of now much.

With the millions of new low wage jobs without health insurance not a surprise.

The GM plant I retired from lost over 9,000 good jobs to Mexico and China

Giving tax cuts to the wealthy vs. Giving health care to regular Americans...

Anybody wonder why nobody was reporting that the big "cost savings" in Obamacare were to come from cutting $650 billion from Medicare?

Ahhhh....the poor plutocrats have been humbled by the people's representatives :(

The head of Americans for Prosperity, a Koch-funded organization, told donors that the healthcare fight in Congress has been “humbling,” Politico reported Sunday.

Americans for Prosperity President Tim Phillips reportedly told prospective donors at the Koch network’s annual summer seminar in Colorado Springs that they expected a full repeal of ObamaCare.

“We fully expected a repeal vote,” Phillips said. “We were caught flat-footed when it didn’t happen.”

Phillips added that it "has been humbling for us."

"Johnson said it was unacceptable that the GOP proposal leaves in place a provision banning insurers from denying coverage to those with pre-existing conditions or charging them more, rules he said drive up the cost of insurance for everyone. Also unacceptable are increases for health care subsidies, he wrote."

Just unapologetically wants to throw sick people off of their health insurance. Hey, let's save money by leaving the really sick uninsured! Problem solved!

New CBO score out saying 22 million lose insurance under BCRA. CBO makes a lot of assumptions so the real number is pry between 5 and 10 million. Forget that though as a lot of the American people are easily swayed by propaganda. Please pass this Obamacare lite ASAP GOP. It will leave both Democrats and real Conservatives pissed off and give the Democrats something to run on paving the way for either a reinstatement of the ACA with a public option or pave the way for single payer (less likely).

No, why screw with so many people's lives this way? As a Democrat you can't seriously want this thing to pass

The one thing I learned about the CBO scoring ritual during the cramming of ACA is it's just results out from data in.

Every time the WH didn't like the CBO score, they changed the data in until they got the results out they wanted. And when the bill passed, it did absolutely, positively NOTHING it said it would do.

So forgive me, but that CBO score is just a bunch of crap -- including the garbage about reducing the deficit and lower costs -- and will reflect nothing that will be reality after a bill is passed.

But you keep dreaming about a public option. How could the government screw up that kind of golden calf?!?

But if you cut all the taxes you have to cut all the services also. So people will obviously not get covered.

But hey! It will lead to something better later?!?

Please explain to me how this is that much different than Obamacare? It still relies heavily on government spending as opposed to the private sector. It's a gift for the Democrats in '18 and '20 in two ways. The bill doesn't do enough to significantly help people who need health insurance to pay for rising ACA premiums as it does little to reduce them. They're not going to run out and vote for Republicans who promised them they would fully repeal and replace for seven years. It also proposes future cuts to Medicaid expansion that was originally established to help poor people which makes it more likely people will go out and vote Democrat. I could easily see Democrats being in the same position as Republicans in 2020 controlling all three branches (especially with Trump as president) and pushing for single payer or a reinstatement of the ACA with a public option.

How is it much different? Obamacare actually tried and did give people health insurance, this tax cut reduces the number of insured by over 20 million. Is that enough difference for you? Even Republicans are complaining about the cuts to Medicaid

I don't care if the government is providing the care and not the private sector. The private sector is fine as long as people can afford it and/or insurance companies are not turning them away because they are sick.

The medicaid cuts don't happen until 2021 giving Dems plenty of time to prevent that from happening. Also, the CBO projection of 22 million is overstated.

You know they're not really cuts, right?

I mean, you know that increasing spending less than it was scheduled to be increased is still an increase, right?

They are cutting totally the expansion under Obamacare. They are also increasing the spending less for the rest of the program.

Yes. I get that and it's another reason I'm not really sweating this bill. If you would of told me last November that this would be the GOP bill I would of laughed and thought if we could only be so lucky.

You know what would be a great idea? If they didn't try to fix EVERYTHING AT ONCE. This damn legislation covers a third of the economy, which we're trying to "fundamentally transform" for the second time in seven years, with a piece of **** bill that could easily be five or more unrelated bills, that covers every single health care topic except the provision of actual health care services to the consumer.

I remember a time when Democrats would argue that anyone losing insurance is unlucky.

Now we hear that 22M will lose insurance, and 26,000 are going to die by noon tomorrow, and suddenly you're feeling lucky.

And honestly, I'm just kidding. The rhetoric from the left is so over the top right now, it's easy pickins.

Here is a perfect example of why no one pays attention to CNN any more...or Democrats.

This is the story of a woman who lives in Imperial Valley, CA (otherwise known as BFE), a couple of hours east of San DIego.

Her current situation is horrible because where she lives, it's apparently impossible to see her doctor in a timely manner, and often has to take an entire day off work just to see her OBGYN, who would give her a prescription for birth control, which is provided for free through ACA.

It's such an inconvenience, she gets her birth control from Planned Parenthood.

If Trumpcare is passed, she said, she will have to drive to Mexico to get birth control because Trump is going to shut down Planned Parenthood.

That's right...to avoid giving up a day of work to see her OBGYN, she would drive to phucking MEXICO to get her birth control.

Because...Trump is going to do something that he isn't going to do.

You leftists have lost your phucking minds.
