GG
My son got a pre existing conditions when he was 4 years old. That said, I also have a pre existing condition and have had insurance through various employers for 32 years and have never been turned down and my pre existing condition has been fully covered. Hate to get technical on you, but you cannot get a pre-existing condition. Your son contracted the condition at 4, at which time he was covered by insurance, which will continue to cover you. It becomes a pre-existing condition after the fact. Same in your case. The GOP argument about pre-existing conditions is against people who roll the dice by not getting insurance when they're healthy, then getting sick and demanding that insurance carriers pick up coverage. reddogblitz
People with pre existing conditions need insurance so when the pharmaceutical companies jack up the prices of thier medication in the name of the almighty dollar, they can still afford to stay alive. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/01/30/health/drugmakers-lawsuit-insulin-drugs.html?_r=0 This is the kind of stuff that makes our health care system so expensive. But it can never be fixed because congress is in the pockets of pharmaceutical companies, insurance companies, and all the middle men in between. Insurance is only 1 small part. Joe Miner
What they need to do is insure themselves before they become sick. That's how insurance works. I have an elaborate plan for my wife to purchase a $10 million life insurance policy on me after I die. That way my kids can be rich. What could go wrong? Doc Brown
The ACA was all smoke and mirrors. It provided so called insurance that for all practical purposes (except for the outliers) does nothing for people supposedly covered. Sky high deductibles and premiums costing ridiculous monthly amounts means they have insurance without actual health care. It obviously wasn't and isn't working for the insurers either. For people to criticize the GOP for trying to come up with a better plan just shows how partisan they are. I agree. Single payer was the way to go though. It will eventually get to that though because it's the only thing that will work.

Most proponents of Obamacare have a pre-existing condition. They were stupid and their condition hasn't changed.

It's been marginally successful in other countries. People in other countries often come here for serious surgeries or if they want to get the surgery done before they die. People.......(the Left in particular) won't face the one great truth regarding healthcare in America. You can have quantity...................or quality. You can pass the edict that all Americans have coverage, but you lose the right to complain when restrictions (naturally) follow. Not everyone can have the same expensive medication they need............. Maybe Grandpa goes to the back of the line when elective surgeries are schedule........... Life is full of choices.............when you leave it to the government to choose.............you have already lost. . Meathead
Well sure, if you believe you are entitled to make slaves of others in order to fund your wish lists via barrel of a gun force, sure. But, if you believe in the inherent value of freedom as the best condition for man, then your nothing but an immoral fascist, which you are. horseѕhit america has always had elements of socialism. there isnt a better reason for it than the most abundant country in the history of healthcare to provide for all with one of our most abundant resources we can definitely cover all if we werent so damn petty and selfish

Magox
Even though Obamacare in itself has been a failure, Obama had won the argument. The General public cares more about overall coverage than anything else. No matter what the Repubs do, we will eventually become a Medicare-for-all single payer sort of health system within a decade. It's not a matter of if but when.
