/dev/null Posted September 26, 2015 Posted September 26, 2015 From Zero Hedge, Obama's "Recovery in 9 charts": Forward!
IDBillzFan Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 From Zero Hedge, Obama's "Recovery in 9 charts": Wow. Other than that, how was the play, Mrs. Lincoln?
DC Tom Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 From Zero Hedge, Obama's "Recovery in 9 charts": Is there any particular reason to believe those charts are accurate? I know the first one is grossly misleading.
Ozymandius Posted September 27, 2015 Posted September 27, 2015 Is there any particular reason to believe those charts are accurate? I know the first one is grossly misleading. As far as I know, ZeroHedge has a good reputation among libertarians / righties. It looks like they got the data from the St. Louis Fed. I was able to find the first graph here, for example: https://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/FGCCSAQ027S

I was able to find the first graph here, for example: https://research.stlouisfed.org/fred2/series/FGCCSAQ027S And it's still grossly misleading. Student loans have been in a straight-line trend for the past 10 years. That chart's for direct federal student loans, which started in '93 with Clinton (which increase in a straight line), but took off in 2010 when Congress cancelled the federal guarantees for commercial student loans. The actual student borrowing rate follows pretty much the same slope as the '93-2010 trend. In other words, in deference to your limited understanding: student borrowing continues to increase at the same rate. The government's share of lending just got much, much bigger. And zerohedge sucks. Goofball conspiracy site.

Wow, look at Sherlock here. Lol. In the freaking link I provided to the St. Louis Fed data, it is clearly labelled Federal Government. And really, you can squint and see it in the original pic as well, detective.
B-Man Posted September 29, 2015 Posted September 29, 2015 Hmmmm, never mind "keep your old plan", you can't even keep your new one. Largest Obamacare Healthcare Co-op to Close The financial benefits and savings touted by Obama and his allies on the road to Obamacare’s passage are still failing to live up to their promise. In fact, the largest non-profit co-op created under the law is about to fold. Anna Wilde Mathews of the Wall Street Journal: Regulators to Shut Down Health Republic Insurance of New York Regulators will shut down Health Republic Insurance of New York, the largest of the nonprofit cooperatives created under the Affordable Care Act, in the latest sign of the financial pressures facing many insurers that participated in the law’s new marketplaces. The insurer lost about $52.7 million in the first six months of this year, on top of a $77.5 million loss in 2014, according to regulatory filings. The move to wind down its operations was made jointly by officials from the federal Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services; New York’s state insurance exchange, known as New York State of Health; and the New York State Department of Financial Services. In a statement, Health Republic said it was “deeply disappointed” by the outcome, and pointed to “challenges placed on us by the structure of the CO-OP program.” (more…)
IDBillzFan Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 Now that he's read it, he knows what's in it...and what's not in it...and Gutierrez is not happy that illegals can't have access to Obamacare. And he says it's time to fix that. It's time to spread the risk. It makes them eligible for subsidies, but no word if they have to pay a penalty for not having coverage.

But don't you think Jesus would want everyone to get healthcare?

Holy hell, that's Republican-level stupid. Extend it to illegal immigrants to create younger risk pools and lower costs? How'd that whole "creating younger risk pools" thing go when it was first implemented? How's that same "carrot and stick" approach going to work with people who are undocumented?
IDBillzFan Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 But don't you think Jesus would want everyone to get healthcare? It depends. Define healthcare.

IDBillzFan Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 http://www.merriam-webster.com/medical/health%20care Jesus loves you So you're saying we need to ensure that everyone maintains their health to prevent themselves from getting sick? How do you propose we do that? Knock door to door? Phone calls? How do you make this happen? We'll wait.
Chef Jim Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 So you're saying we need to ensure that everyone maintains their health to prevent themselves from getting sick? How do you propose we do that? Knock door to door? Phone calls? How do you make this happen? We'll wait. Outlaw things that are bad for you and require everyone to see a doctor and get a full physical every year or face fine or imprisonment.
B-Large Posted September 30, 2015 Posted September 30, 2015 (edited) Is there any particular reason to believe those charts are accurate? I know the first one is grossly misleading. The OP just wanted to rub on his sausage to a bunch of graphs that got him all gay in the ass.... I generally ignore graphs without really taking time to understand them or to analyze they're sources- they are easy grounds for shock media, cable news loves them. B-Man Posted October 1, 2015 Posted October 1, 2015 (edited) Democrats Begin the Long, Tortuous Retreat from Obamacare by Ed Morrissey After five years, two midterm disasters, and a rollout that reminded Americans why they fell out of love with big government in the 1970s, reality has finally begun to dawn on some Democrats about Obamacare. With open enrollment about to start and a third straight round of premium spikes about to hit voters’ pockets, the Democrats’ leading presidential candidate has offered a “major break” with the Obama administration on its signature domestic policy achievement. Hillary Clinton will speak out against the so-called Cadillac tax on high-coverage health care plans, as early as this week, according to The New York Times. The politics on this are complicated, and not entirely focused on health care; in fact, this has more to do with the health of Clinton’s struggling and scandal-plagued campaign. Even so, the Cadillac tax on high-coverage plans is a key to Obamacare, both fiscally and philosophically, and Clinton’s coming attack on it shows just how much of an albatross the entire system has become for her party. keepthefaith Posted October 6, 2015 Posted October 6, 2015 State approves 27% Obamacare rate hike for HMSA; 34% for Kaiser Honolulu Star-Advertiser Obamacare is like cable TV or car insurance or homeowners insurance. You get a teaser rate for a year or two and after that you're screwed. By the time most people figure out what the hell happened, Obama will have vacated 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.
