4merper4mer Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Lots of things. Many of your facts are incorrect IMO. First Marrone's players seem to like and respect him, never the case with GW. The press largely likes him and his candor-- he generally gets very good press. He admits mistakes all the time vis challenges and using timeouts and the formation when TL did the QB sneak in NE. He seems to have a philosophy and vision where he wants to go with the team. His success at Syracuse. He is an emotional and candid guy. All sorts of differences. I'll agree he is not the most articulate guy like GW, but he is not full of false bravado in my judgment like GW. I think they are very different people Time will tell, you could be right, but I think superficial stuff is clouding your view IMO. FWIW I liked Greggo initially and was honestly surprised when he turned out to be a total moron. I similarly liked Greggo Marrone and gradually got the same creepy feelings Greggo generated. I think flexibility is the most similar trait. They have little to none. Bluster/Bravado is another. I will give you that Greggo Marrone seems to have less than Greggo but not enough less. He seems like a decent guy to have as a neighbor or something unlike Greggo. I fear that will not be nearly enough and the Crossman/Hilliard fiascos make me feel more confident in that analysis although I'd prefer to be wrong. And yes I'd call the Hilliard firing a fiasco based solely on Greggo Marrone calling it a "difference in philosophy" which basically is taking a shot at Hilliard as he escorts him out. Why not say "We decided to go in another direction."?
bananathumb Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Marrone is probably already as sick of Blo as Blo is of him. He's way over his head in the NFL as HC. Won't end well for him or Crosseyes.
QB Bills Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 I've got an even better question: How is it possible, since ST is so important as to incite a 10-page thread when the coach isn't fired, that the Bills were a losing team despite having top 5 ST units virtually every year during Bobby April's tenure? So essentially what you're saying here, and in your other posts, is that special teams don't really matter. You should apply for a position with the Bills. I think you have exactly what they're looking for.
Rob's House Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The only way this could get worse is if they booked Keith Urban for the SB halftime show.

Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) Major loss of Marrone's credibility with regard to accountability as far as I'm concerned. This Crossman's critics: "His units have been terrible everywhere he's gone." "Why don't they practice onside kicks?" "They have top-rated returners, yet a terrible average and no home runs" "Their coverage teams look completely out of place, they commit penalties and they aren't staying in their lanes" And This Crossman's defenders: "That's just like, your opinion, man." "Coaches don't tackle, Players tackle" Let me fix it for you Edited January 7, 2014 by Hopeful
3rdand12 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If the Bills had listened to folks like us over these past 14 years the playoff draught would've most likely ended a while ago. And you read the posts ?: )
billieve420 Posted January 7, 2014 Author Posted January 7, 2014 Guy comes across as a total boob but hey maybe that is just me. http://www.buffalobills.com/video/videos/Danny-Crossman-talks-special-teams/f3d5d768-aadf-40e1-a115-719a17fee3a7
Malazan Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 If in a decade and in 3 cities he hasn't been able to advocate for sufficient practice times or personnel for his units, it's still a failure as a coordinator. A gigantic one. This reeks of cronyism and undermines the message.
SactoBillFan Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 (edited) If the Bills had listened to folks like us over these past 14 years the playoff draught would've most likely ended a while ago. Really? How? Hope your joking. Edited January 7, 2014 by SactoBillFan
MattM Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Count me among those who think this is a sick joke--they have got to be kidding us that this guy keeps his job. ST (absent Dan Carpenter) were demonstrably terrible this year despite having proven playmakers in the return game. Some of us called this last year when Crossman was hired--based on his "record" even then it looked like a pure cronyism hire. Now that's just been absolutely confirmed....
3rdand12 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 Marrone will win 10+ games if EJ takes a significant step forward. What are the chances of that? They can't afford to have Special teams blow them games next year(like this year), they aren't good enough. Keeping Crossman is a huge risk. As someone mentioned, Marrone comes across as stubborn, and to be honest a bit of a moron. How can you preach accountability with the players and then not use the same philosophy with the coaches? Won't the players notice this and if they do how do you think they will react? As sad as it is, some of the posts here aren't as moronic as the moves OBD has made. Actually i think very highly of most all of the posters and folks here. But as a group we are a bit wishy washy. Or a least very biased under duress. Its just Bills football .
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 The crossman over-reaction is comical. if we had ended the season with the win against Mia or jax-- where the ST played reasonably well-- no one would have really been beating this drum.
3rdand12 Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 A gigantic one. This reeks of cronyism and undermines the message. again did Marrone have many/ any options ? Really? How? Hope your joking. he is The crossman over-reaction is comical. if we had ended the season with the win against Mia or jax-- where the ST played reasonably well-- no one would have really been beating this drum. Well...
BADOLBILZ Posted January 7, 2014 Posted January 7, 2014 again did Marrone have many/ any options ? he is Well... Even Gregg "long lists of candidates" Williams had crony's at the top of at least one list. How could we forget Ronnie Vinklarek? Possibly as unqualified as "Pump it up" Ronnie Jones.
