The press largely likes him and his candor-- he generally gets very good press. He admits mistakes all the time vis challenges and using timeouts and the formation when TL did the QB sneak in NE. He seems to have a philosophy and vision where he wants to go with the team. His success at Syracuse. He is an emotional and candid guy. All sorts of differences. I'll agree he is not the most articulate guy like GW, but he is not full of false bravado in my judgment like GW. I think they are very different people Time will tell, you could be right, but I think superficial stuff is clouding your view IMO. FWIW I liked Greggo initially and was honestly surprised when he turned out to be a total moron. I similarly liked Greggo Marrone and gradually got the same creepy feelings Greggo generated. I think flexibility is the most similar trait. They have little to none. Bluster/Bravado is another. I will give you that Greggo Marrone seems to have less than Greggo but not enough less. He seems like a decent guy to have as a neighbor or something unlike Greggo. I fear that will not be nearly enough and the Crossman/Hilliard fiascos make me feel more confident in that analysis although I'd prefer to be wrong. And yes I'd call the Hilliard firing a fiasco based solely on Greggo Marrone calling it a "difference in philosophy" which basically is taking a shot at Hilliard as he escorts him out. QB Bills Posted January 7, 2014 Share Posted January 7, 2014 I've got an even better question: How is it possible, since ST is so important as to incite a 10-page thread when the coach isn't fired, that the Bills were a losing team despite having top 5 ST units virtually every year during Bobby April's tenure? So essentially what you're saying here, and in your other posts, is that special teams don't really matter. You should apply for a position with the Bills. ST (absent Dan Carpenter) were demonstrably terrible this year despite having proven playmakers in the return game. Some of us called this last year when Crossman was hired--based on his "record" even then it looked like a pure cronyism hire. Now that's just been absolutely confirmed.... They can't afford to have Special teams blow them games next year(like this year), they aren't good enough. Keeping Crossman is a huge risk. As someone mentioned, Marrone comes across as stubborn, and to be honest a bit of a moron. How can you preach accountability with the players and then not use the same philosophy with the coaches? Won't the players notice this and if they do how do you think they will react? As sad as it is, some of the posts here aren't as moronic as the moves OBD has made. Actually i think very highly of most all of the posters and folks here. But as a group we are a bit wishy washy. Or a least very biased under duress. Its just Bills football .
