Deranged Rhino Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 What icky side effects? I take Norco. I smile. I sleep. Norco kicks weed's ass up and down Santa Monica Blvd. Plus, I've seen the hippies that hang out at the dispensaries. Mother rapers. Father stabbers. FATHER RAPERS! Sittin' right there on the bench! You're okay, LA.
Chef Jim Posted March 11, 2014 Posted March 11, 2014 I'm not the police chief nor do I run an insurance company. Won't impact me at all. I'm responsible for my own actions. What other people do is their own business. Of course you're not responsible for their actions. But you or someone you know or love may be on the terrible receiving end of their stupid actions. So you want to legalize something that will make the roads more dangerous. Once again that is a fantastic idea.

Once again that is a fantastic idea. That's not a fair argument. Alcohol is already legal and drunks drive every day. Weed is illegal and high people drive every day. Legalizing weed will not add a statistically significant new number of high or impaired drivers onto the road -- and, even if it did, studies (with real science... okay, CNN science so, hokum) show that driving while under the influence of marijuana did not impair drivers' abilities nearly as much as alcohol, texting, talking on the phone or prescription pain meds. But, say I'm wrong, what it really means is more money into local town's coffers from the bounty of DUI tickets that will be coming. And that helps the economy... or something. I forget. I'm in the middle of smoking while driving and posting.

So based on your last logic we should have tons of people driving drunk so there will be more people busted or DUI and will give towns more money. There have been tons of logical posts in this thread. Must be all the weed.
Deranged Rhino Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) So based on your last logic we should have tons of people driving drunk so there will be more people busted or DUI and will give towns more money. There have been tons of logical posts in this thread. Must be all the weed. Well, the last bit of logic was if my premise is proven to be wrong (which, by its very nature, makes it illogical). And it was the worst case scenario: it would mean more money for towns. And more jobs due to the amount of all the dead people from potheads being unleashed on the roads. EDIT: ... and it's definitely all the weed. Edited March 12, 2014 by GreggyT

DC Tom Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 You do realize that legal or illegal it is super easy to buy pot anywhere? It's got to be easy. Stoners can manage it.
Chef Jim Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 You do realize that legal or illegal it is super easy to buy pot anywhere? You do realize that there are a lot of people that don't smoke it because it's illegal but will if/when it does become legal?
Jim in Anchorage Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 (edited) It's got to be easy. Stoners can manage it. Yes they can. point is anyone can get it today. Chef seems to project a world where if legal we would have stoners driving dump trucks down the wrong side of the road at 90 MPH running over mothers pushing baby carriages. You do realize that there are a lot of people that don't smoke it because it's illegal but will if/when it does become legal? Yeah I think I ran into him in 74. I know you got a big kick out of workplace testing but in my non high powered finance world I believe random drug tests keep a whole lot more people clean then any law. Many people don't partake today even though it's readily available is the potential for random drug tests or just getting caught possessing it. Legalize it and those issues go away so lots of people would no longer have to worry about that but my often find themselves behind the wheel after using.

Smoke a big fat joint right in front off the state cops on my property. But there is still workplace testing. Positive you're gone.

Jim in Anchorage Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Why would a company fire you fore indulging in a 100% legal activity? Would they fire you if you got drunk the night before? Yes. It's up to them. If you come into work sober, but reeking of beer they can and will fire you.
Chef Jim Posted March 12, 2014 Posted March 12, 2014 Yes. It's up to them. If you come into work sober, but reeking of beer they can and will fire you. Yes because you're under the influence. If you reek of beer you are not sober. Marijuana stays in your system long after the intoxicating effects have worn off.

Marijuana stays in your system long after the intoxicating effects have worn off. You plainly don't know how long beer stays on your body smell. Drink 12 beers, sleep 8 hours, get up brush your teeth, shower, eat eggs and bacon , brush again and non drinkers will still smell beer on you.

Drink 12 beers, sleep 8 hours, get up brush your teeth, shower, eat eggs and bacon , brush again and non drinkers will still smell beer on you. I'm sorry but if you drink 12 beers you are very likely still under the influence even after all of the thing you mentioned. And if you are no longer under the influence but still smell of booze (not sure if that is even possible) but there are companies that will fire you for that? Can you back this claim up?

Yes I can but I will not get into the details. I can tell you smelling of beer is a fire able offense. The human nose is far stronger than you think.

That's not the way the real job market works. Good for you to pick and choose. BTW I is caps. I know a few places that would bounce you on that.

The job market is a piece of cake if you're good at what you do. Why would anyone want to work for partaking in something that is 100% legal off the job is a reason to be fired. Unless you're drunk at work. And we used to love Friday lunches with a few beers.
