OldTimer1960 Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 i can tell you 100% that much of the leadership I my line of work comes from the co-workers. Without a question. And slackers are absolutely called out. Interesting, what line of work is that? I can say that I've worked in engineering and product development for 30 years and while everyone knows who isn't pulling their weight, I've never seen a case where a co-worker "called them out". I have seen cases where management has had to intervene, but not co-workers.

If your not, you'll be encouraged to find a different prison to work at. Edited January 3, 2014 by mrags
Hapless Bills Fan Posted January 3, 2014 Posted January 3, 2014 Didn't Thurman lose his helmet in a Super Bowl. Where was Leonard Smith on that one? Watching Kenny Davis hide it probably. You can talk about leadership, but with Jim Kelly reportedly getting totally bombed out of his mind the nite before each Superbowl (and it affecting his play) and with the BU RB wanting to be able to say he started in a Superbowl more than avoiding any distraction and putting the best team on the field, it had its gaps back in the day.

The fact is that most of the leaders on those teams were out partying all night every night. Bruce was the biggest coke head in the league besides LT, Bennett was a partier, Talley, Andre, Thurman. All those guys were huge boozers and coke addicts. On all those espn shows they always talk about how the team wasn't ready until Jim threw up. It wasn't because of his nerves, he was ejecting all the extra booze from his system from the night before. Can't be ready with a drunk quarterback. I've said it before and I'll say it again, all Marv was, was a glorified Babysitter and if he had just done his job and reeled those guys in while preparing for their biggest games ever, we would have at least 1 ring if not 2. Instead we all like to blame Scott Norwood for missing a far from gimme kick at the most crucial time ever.
