Owners should own and hire the right people to run and the franchise. And there lies a conundrum. If the owner has no real understanding of the business, how is he to know who the right people are that he should hire to run the franchise? 8-8 Forever? Posted January 2, 2014 Share Posted January 2, 2014 I've lived in NoVa for 30 years now and Snyder is like most fans on this board.. a super fan. The problem is, the crazy irrational stuff super fans talk about doing on this board, he actually does b/c he owns the team. Wants to do this and do that, treats the thing like a fantasy team. Knee jerk this and that,, he seems to love the glamour part of being the owner of his childhood team. Fans here thought things were fixed with the hiring of control-freak Shanahan, but drafting larger than life RGIII for his OC son to play with simultaneously killed the draft prospects for the team for 3 years, pissed off Shanahan b/c Griffin became bigger than him, and also brought Snyder back to hanging with the players and getting in the way. Then the salary cap penalty hit, limiting the roster and now Griffin needs the full 18 months to come back from the ACL. At the top, Skins are just like the Cowboys, the coach and QB need to be under the radar humble guys b/c the owner will never be humble enough to get out of the way. That said, the next coach, if a humble sort, will inherit a healthy RGIII, $40m in cap space and an owner willing to spend it all. Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...

And sue grannies who get behind on their PSL payment. You can be passionate and involved without creating a circus and cult of personality around yourself. San Jose Bills Fan Posted January 2, 2014 Share Posted January 2, 2014 And on the other end of the spectrum from Washington is their divisional rivals, the New York Giants, a model of patience, loyalty, and consistency in a league where those virtues are rare. Pittsburgh and Baltimore are also very stable franchises. It makes you wonder about stability and success, whether it's a chicken and egg thing. Owners should own and hire the right people to run and the franchise. Agreed. I can't think of any Bills fans crying for ownership to get more involved. Everyone wanted Ralph to get out of the way. Al Davis, Jerry Jones, Dan Snyder -- all these guys ran their teams into the ground. Bob Kraft hires the top personnel to run his team, then gets out of the way. And there lies a conundrum. I think also it speaks to the difficulty and competitiveness of the league. Most of these owners are intelligent and successful people. And yet how many of them own teams which experience consistently excellent success on the playing field? Even many of the "hands off" owners preside over terrible teams. Unfortunately for Redskin fans, the show continually gets renewed. Basically, Danny is like a kid with a toy, except the kid can't understand or refuses to follow the instructions on how to use the toy properly.
