papazoid Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 i'm leaning towards Marrone is just BLOWING SMOKE through a paid bills mouthpiece. citing an example of a lesser player like DaRick Rogers is exactly what i am talking about. no way they cut or trade someone like Dareus or Stevie Johnson. if i was someone like Nigel Bradham (pot smoking) i would be worried. if was an idiot like Lee Smith i would be worried. if i really shouldn't be getting starters minutes like Legursky, Moats and TJ Graham i would be worried.
K-9 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I know I'll get scolded for this especially since he's a "Pro Bowler" but Kyle Williams is very over rated. He is exactly what's wrong with this team. Not good at his position. Great at rushing the passer out of the DT spot. Horrible against the run. And IMO that's what a good DT is supposed to do. Not gonna scold. But I will challenge you to find all the plays that KW lost his leverage and conceded yards on the ground. It won't take too long because you'll only find a few, if that. To say he is not good at his position puts you in a distinct minority. If our LBs were all as good at their positions as he is, we would have the best defense in the league, hands down. GO BILLS!!!
bigK14094 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 I love Kiko and like Hughes and Lawson, the combination may not work since there is no true run stuffer and instead there is 3 combo guys. Yep, Kiko is a finese guy, can tackle, but can't go inside and beat a guard to get to the runner for a stop....needs to stunt to do that. At 238, he is a lightweight for a middle lb. Now, he could bulk up some, and thats up to him (based on what his coaches counsel him), but he looks more like an outside backer to me. I say draft the next Spielman at MLB so they have somebody they can't beat so easily. Kiko is getting beat by the OL.......when they run.
bobobonators Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Would you still have a job if you showed up late everyday? Yes I would and do. Fact of life: A cashier at starbucks being habitually late to work = fired. A superb attorney for a top law firm coming late yet still producing for the firm's clients = raise. Its not "fair" but who cares about fairness when winning or making money is on the line. Football is not exactly the same, but similar. Star athletes are not always held to the same petty standards as average players for obvious reasons. The only "lesson" Marrone showed Dareus yesterday is how critical Dareus is to this D-line. Benching a professional player like this is a college move. This isnt college.
Big Gun Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Can you be more specific? Are you saying we should stock our roster with marginal talent that Marrone can coach? Are you saying Marrone is correct to have a mouthpiece do all his talking like the old Soviet newspapers? Are you saying he won't continue his tactics of dressing down reporters while claiming complete ignorance of the issues facing his team? I'm willing to listen and actually hope I am wrong. If you think I am, please explain and if possible please cite one example of Marrone displaying any evidence he has any capability of leading a winning NFL team and is not simply in CYS/scapegoat mode. Assuming he can't win, already making excuses for 2014, and already trying to save his job for 2015. Really? Assumptions and knee jerk reactions are not the answer.
bigK14094 Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 wrt the TJ Graham chatter.....he has improved some...I have to admit. So, they will look at him hard next preseason, and make up their mind. He is certainly better than Hogan, who I cannot figure out on the team. He plays Special teams, and does get some tackles, but he looks slow as a receiver, and I don't think he has a long term role here. Haven't seen the Tasker like big plays from him that it takes to stick as a special teams specialist. Anyhow, I do see improvement in Graham, and he has physical tools. His drop at the end of the game.......well, should have got that, wet ball and all, he was all alone, and the throw was not that bad...yes behind him, but, Pro's make that catch.
purple haze Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 (edited) Meh... You're the guy who seems to think undisciplined teams can win, and that players who don't buy in don't fracture locker rooms. Where do you think guys like Dareus fit in? Not on champions like the Patriots. His bull **** walks in New England. Dareus would fit in on any team and in NE he’d probably be an all-pro. Just like he will be in B-Lo soon enough. U serious or being sarcastic ? . . . . if serious, please study defenses and learn to watch film . . . . Kyle Williams does exactly what you want DT to do in this type of defense --- big plays have mostly been issue with inexperience at LB and failure on safeties ---
Nitro Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Marrone seems to be a different type of coach than Gregggggg. He has 1 chance to the die hard fans to show he is not a blowing smoke by getting rid of Crossman and bringing in a successful ST coach. ST used to be a strength of the Bills but now is a liability.
Campy Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 While the Bills may or may not make news with their roster turnover, I don't think KW said anything differently than any vet playing for a team that missed the playoffs said to his team's beat reporters. There's no 'there' there. Chris Brown's comments are much more telling, imo.
Ed_Formerly_of_Roch Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Where I work the hours are 8 to 5. Many people regularly show up at 8:30. or 9:00 or even 9:30 on a regular basis. But they are also there until 7:00 at night, so not much of an issue unless there was an 8:00 meeting you were supposed to be at. That person can just as easily be doing what he needs to be doing at 7:00 at night as he could hat 8:00 in the morning. Football isn't exactly like that however, there are many things you need to be together for as a team so being late makes it tougher for everyone to get on the same page. Can a player do weight lifting after everyone is gone, sure, but meetings and on field drills need to be done with all present. Yes I would and do.
TakeYouToTasker Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Dareus would fit in on any team and in NE he’d probably be an all-pro. Just like he will be in B-Lo soon enough. Fat, lazy and disrespectful don't strike me as being the sort of qualities that drive one to excellence.
4merper4mer Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 Fat, lazy and disrespectful don't strike me as being the sort of qualities that drive one to excellence. 23 with a brother who just died and a crappy coach to lead you aren't helpers either. He seemed pretty motivated at Bama.
bobobonators Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 23 with a brother who just died and a crappy coach to lead you aren't helpers either. He seemed pretty motivated at Bama. Nick Saban can motivate premier talent. His players go to the NFL and become pro bowlers. Marrone has never won anything as a HC. Anywhere. His players from Syracuse are nowhere to be seen. Respect goes both ways and "buying into something" goes both ways. Why should anyone buy into Marrone and even worse, Hackett?

Regarding the CB article, that wasn't Marrone asking CB to write an article, it was a response to a question a fan asked. Your "Soviet newspaper mouthpiece" assertion is silly. Also, he dressed down reporters when the kept asking the same question about Mario. Look at how Belichick handles the media, he doesn't even answer questions, just a few grumbles and grunts - I'd like to see Marrone use that tactic more (though I think it would drive fans crazy) Yes I would and do. Maybe this will help Dareus learn a lesson, maybe not, but the boss thinks it will and he's the boss soooooo... Listening to dimwitted blowhard coaches is seldom the answer either. See: Greggo. You've called Marrone a "blowhard" in several threads, care to explain? Early Rex Ryan - blowhard, current Doug Marrone - I'm just not seeing it.

YOU SHOULD GET SCOLDED... You are out of your mind. Kyle Williams is a beast... You must not be watching the games very closely. Where would this team have been without him ? Kyle is one of the very best at his position. Perhaps you would like to tell us who is better ? Who should the Bills replace him with ?? This is the type of crap I can't stand from Bills fans... You don't even know what you have and decide to bash one of the best in the league... UUUGGGHHHHH !!!

Early Rex Ryan - blowhard, current Doug Marrone - I'm just not seeing it. Chris Brown works for the team and he didn't just make up the veiled threats in his article. He heard them from someone. Just like the Soviet press got their scoops from the Kremlin. Grunts would have been fine with the Mario thing but claiming he had no idea what was going on was simply not believable on its face. The reporter seemed to imply that there was some motivational issue going on with Mario. Marrone did nothing to quiet that and his boisterous, in your face "blowhard" approach only seemed to fuel the fires of specualtion. At the time I chalked it up to learning curve or possibly that Mario was having issues. Mario's season speaks for itself. Marrone's blind defense of the ST coach when asked yesterday also speaks for itself. ST is a systemic problem for the Bills but instead we get treated to the minutia of what all 11 players did wrong on all 37 fubar'ed ST plays this year. I define blowhard as someone who loudly talks down facts by belittling the premise of any question thrown his way.

Make an example of him at practice by giving him more drills; 3. Do both #1 and #2 and bench him for a series or two..not an entire quarter or an entire half You guys remember when Wes Welker ran his mouth a few years ago about Rex and his foot fetish? BB benched him for a single series and was back on the field for the second possession of the game. Benching one of the best players on Defense for an entire quarter or an entire half is cutting off your nose to spite your face. In the end, it literally hurts the entire team more than Dareus being "late" to a meeting. Edited December 30, 2013 by bobobonators
Security Posted December 30, 2013 Posted December 30, 2013 There should be changes, including trading or cutting Kyle Williams, most overrated player in the entire NFL. Here is what the Bills rank against the run with him: 2013-24th 2012-31st 2011-28th 2010-32nd 2009-30th 2008-22nd 2007-25th 2006-28th He is worthless.
