fridge Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Will he be on the team next year? I think most would say no, but I'm curious if there are any who might argue that he should. I felt he played pretty poorly yesterday (the fans did as well - he was heckled a bit after his first punt and another that sailed out of bounds at the 25 when he should have been trying to pin them back). I always liked him, I just think that he has been lucky to even been given this second opportunity. For reference, he is dead last among punters in average punt, and third last in net average.
26CornerBlitz Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Upgrade needed. No more 13 yard shanks. Had a great career and is a fine human being, but it's time to retire.
Bangarang Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Moorman has been mostly terrible this year. I don't see any way he's on this team next year. I doubt he even makes it to training camp.
Special K Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I honestly believe he may consider retiring as a Bill at the end of the year....it seems he has reached the end of the line of a good career.
Dorkington Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 34th out of 35 eligible in punt average. Love the guy, but it's probably time to hang them up. That being said... if we can't find anyone better, we shouldn't push him out of the door, heh.

Dorkington Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 How could we not find anyone better? It's near impossible to not do that. Well, that Powell guy was run out of town as being "worse".
Campy Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Had the opportunity to meet him - seemed like a nice guy. If that BuffNews article on TBD is any indication, he knows he's done.
Leelee Phoenix Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I doubt Moorman is back. His best days are behind him. I just hope they don't draft another kicker or punter. Try out a bunch of guys, take the best, you'll be fine.
wnysteel Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 he can boom them with the best of them, but the inconsistent kicks (shanks) are maddening. there are better options out there. that said, great guy and i wish him the best

If they can't find anyone better, I suggest that the Bills petition the Competition Committee to eliminate punting from the game. Hope Crossman leaves with Moorman, but since he's Marrone's good friend, I'm not betting on it.

ny33 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 We should have brought another punter onto the roster to replace Moorman weeks ago. We need to see if someone on the F.A. wire (there likely is) can replace him, and we are wasting valuable game time by continuing to employ Moorman. Sign Brad Wing or something. BringBobbyApril back to Coach Special teams and Asst Head Coach. Moorman, was a great Bill, thanks for the memories Brian. Bobby April is employed.
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Well, that Powell guy was run out of town as being "worse". Not sure why you used quotes. Powell was horrendous. At least Moorman has an excuse, being at the end of his career. I thought Moorman started well, but got increasingly inconsistent. For example, he had a great game against jax, but laid an egg against Miami. I think age has caught up to him. He will retire. Great career as a Bill!
Dibs Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 The new regime doesn't seem content to retain players who are sub-par.......and unfortunately Moorman is far enough past his prime that he fits into that category. A new punter will undoubtedly be found this off-season.

Great career as a Bill! Horrendous? Unless he was 35th worst, that would indicate Moorman was more horrendous than Powell
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 Horrendous? Unless he was 35th worst, that would indicate Moorman was more horrendous than Powell Powell was statistically bad before he was cut. I believe he was bottom 5. Not to mention his line drive, 2 second hang time punts.
boyst Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I swore I posted here, but I think he takes the best way out - retire a Bill at the end of the season.
PromoTheRobot Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 We all know that Moorman was cut in the first place because Ralph is cheap.
Kirby Jackson Posted December 24, 2013 Posted December 24, 2013 I don't even think tht this one is debatable. He has been a great Bill and a great guy but he is done. He will certainly be replaced and my guess is that he retires after the season. I just hope the next guy can be as good as Moorman was in his prime.
