littlelouie Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 With the exception of Gilmore the defense played their best game of the year. The pressure on Tannehill was relentless. They held the Dolphins to 103 yards total offense. And if it wasn't for Gilmore getting smoked by Hartline the Dolphins would have only had 50 yards total offense. That's incredible. It's hard to hold any NFL offense down that low. Petine has turned this defense around they're a lot better than last year. McLovin is having a great year and Roby seems to make a lot of plays.
hondo in seattle Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Big plays are part of the game. In a typical game, a big chunk of the total yards will be produced by big plays. Though it is impressive to think that half of Miami's meager total came on that long pass to Hartline. When you hold a team to 100 yards and 0 points, it's hard to say anyone on defense had a bad game. Incidentally, Hartline only caught 2 of the 10 passes thrown his way. The other completion was for something like 3 yards. He made one play. He didn't have a big game. Not only is this defense producing better stats - it's just plain more fun to watch than Wanny's defense.
HamSandwhich Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 Why are you singling Gilmore out? Did he give up 2 or 3 TDs? 100+ yds? Just stop it already. The D played incredible as a unit!
djp14150 Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I didnt see the play so I dont know if Gilmore could be blamed. Was he expecting safety help? was it just a great throw that no matter what a cB does the player would still catch it?

Some on this board have it out for Gilmore for an unknown reason. They neglect to mention any play where McKelvin or Robey gets beaten (and it happens every single game) yet any play were Gilmore's man catches a ball there's a post (usually several) about it. People expect him to be perfect and when he's not BAM, he sucks. He's actually played well in the past 3 weeks but you'd hardly know it from reading this board.

Gilmore is getting healthier and playing better, the hand injury severely hampered him. The only complaint on him is sometimes he seems to think enough time has expired and play is over only to get beat on a long ball. Leoids and Stefan will make a dynamic shutdown duo
frogger Posted December 23, 2013 Posted December 23, 2013 I'm not sure if I'm the first to say it, but Robey reminds me of Winfield. Best UDFA pick up since Peters IMHO.
