I've been a fan since the '70s.... Is there ever a time that Buffalo professional sports have been worse? I don't think I can recall a time when both the Bills and Sabres have been as depressing as right now.

Just 2 years ago we felt that Gailey had the team on the upswing and with Pegula buying the Sabres and loosening the purse would bring the Sabres up to elite status... CRASH!

With out a doubt this is the worst it has ever been. I think Butfalo is by far the worst sports town in the country. Someone prove me wrong and show me otherwise. I brain stormed yesterday and kept coming back to us being the worst in the country.

if it wasn't for the Bison's baseball, and the UB Bulls Buffalo a sports fan would really suck right now

Don't think the Bisons and Bulls come close to making up for Sabres and Bills.

It is as bad as it feels. Unfortunately for the Bills it is about on par for a new head coach right out of college. The loss yesterday is on the coach. Has to be when a team gets out played in all phases of the game they aren't prepared. Not all the losses are on Marrone though. As for the Sabres....it was a necessary evil. Without this complete collapse they would not have fired Reiger. Either way for both teams this is just an awful time to be a fan.

Worst sports town, no; worst sports teams, currently yes.

Neither team is worth watching.

I basically have the games on as background noise now.

Hard to argue that things are really, really awful...but keep in mind, there have been other awful times, and we didn't have 24/7 focus on it..

It's bad. I think the Sabres are far more depressing. They've got no talent. Ralph Wilson gets a ton of criticism for how he runs/Brandon runs the Bills. The Sabres get bought by a guy whose willing to spend and they've regressed since the Golisano years.

Cleveland has had pretty bad luck also. Browns leave, win Super Bowl as the Ravens. Lebron leaves, wins championships with Heat.

i think that's worse than never winning.

You guys are to young to remember the city of Buffalo during the 70's. Plants closing, the air stunk.... the "love canal" http://www2.epa.gov/aboutepa/love-canal-tragedy

The Buffalo Bills couldn't have a home pre season game because nobody would show up. Back then Rich Stadium held 80,000+ and the 76-77 season ticket sales were so abysmal that the owner was actually afraid he would be forced to sell the team. 1984-85 were some other bad years in which Wilson was afraid he would be forced to sell.

Unlike now, Bills fans back then didn't seem to care if Wilson moved the team.

Yeah it is pretty disgusting right now but not without points of comparison.

I'm pretty sure they've both sucked this badly at the same time at least once or twice in the past 30 years, but this year is certainly a contender for worst.

Well there's no doubt the Bills have never had a stretch in their history like the millenium Bills. At least those other awful teams improved after a few years. The new age Bills add talent but never seem to add any numbers in the win column.
