Dan Gross Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 A good article. Takes Herm and Marty to task for their "playing not to lose" approach to games. Dungy's and Cowher's conservative approaches to playoff games in general (and the subsequent struggles they have had because of it) has been bandied about here as well. I'd like to believe we don't have that kind of coach, that he'll realize the way to win in the playoffs is to take chances. Hopefully we'll see next year. http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2005/writ...ards/index.html
Dawgg Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 An idiot who has led his team to the playoffs for 3 years. He's definitely in the top half of coaches in terms of skill. Herm really is an idiot. The comments he makes at press confrence's are ridiculous. How that team responds so well to his ignorancy and dumb remarks is beyond me. 210603[/snapback]
BillnutinHouston Posted January 19, 2005 Posted January 19, 2005 I always felt Marv coached this way as well. He nearly always made the conservative call and put the game in his players' hands, not his.
