Surfmeister Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 I just got an email from the company CEO Rand Blazer informing me that I won a Platnium Beacon Award. The highest award the company gives out. This quarter only 23 of us got it out of the 16,000+ BearingPoint emlpoyees. I had to share the good news. I think I'll buy a Lotto ticket on my way home.

stuckincincy Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 What does your company do? I'll be VERY impressed if it's something like fusion research.
R. Rich Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Congrats on the award. I finally got an award this last quarter from my job; only my 3rd cash award in the 8 years I've been there.

Surfmeister Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 Yep, we sponsor Phil Mickelson on the PGA tour along with Ford.
nobody Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 They tell me it's worth 3 - 5 K. I haven't got the check yet just the notice. 16103 Garbages plates for everyone - Surfmeister's buying! Way to go!
Alaska Darin Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 They tell me it's worth 3 - 5 K. I haven't got the check yet just the notice. 16103 Then it's even better. It's nice to get recognition from your superiors, but having something tangible to show for it helps.

Based on percentages, it would seem to be a prestigious award.
stuckincincy Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Yep, we sponsor Phil Mickelson on the PGA tour along with Ford. 16106 You've got me here. We do nothing, but we spend money to sponsor athletes?
Beerball Posted September 2, 2004 Posted September 2, 2004 Outstanding news! Congratulations. Take Mrs. Surf out for a nice dinner then spend the rest on a big screen, surround sound etc.
Surfmeister Posted September 2, 2004 Author Posted September 2, 2004 You've got me here. We do nothing, but we spend money to sponsor athletes? 16116 Here's the straight answer of what we do >> http://www.bearingpoint.com/industries/index.html I'm a PMI PMP working as the manager of a Program Management Office on a huge Public Services project we have going on in Florida. We had two corporate audits this past quarter and I passed both with the highest Green ratings allowed. That and I'm keeping our client happy!

But I must say, I disagree in principle in sponsorship deals...I'd rather see you and co-workers get that dough. If I had a business in the market for your company's service, that Bearingpoint saw fit to waste $$$ on promotion in something so silly as golf would make me think that you have to recover that self-inflicted overhead and so could not be my best-cost provider. Sorry to be so negative, but back in my contracting days, such frivolities by a potential vendor knocked them out of consideration.
