Internet error question

Recommended Posts

Hope someone can help me, I was trying to access a site that I visit every day and when I logged in today I got the following error message...

Internet Explorer cannot read this webpage format

HTTP 406

What you can try:

Go back to the previous page.Go back to the previous page.

More information

This error (HTTP 406 Not Acceptable) means that Internet Explorer was able to receive information from the website you visited, but the information was not in a format that Internet Explorer can display.

For more information about HTTP errors, see Help.

I was able to access the site all day yesterday with no problems.

Anyone have any idea?

I have deleted anc leared all the cookies, cache etc.

Thanks!

you can't download firefox or chrome? i avoid ie at all costs but a couple of the pages i need for work are still using ie exclusively...but again, chrome has an ie tab that allows me to open them in chrome

I am at work. I am not sure what you mean by different browser. I am using IE9 but dont know how to use a different browser besides IE

Well, if you're at work and someone is prohibiting you from using another browser, then it seems like it's their problem, not yours. Let them diagnose it. If you can't bother them w/ your problem, then maybe you shouldn't be looking at porn at work. ;)

Mismatch between the content type in the server's response header and the actual content type the server provided - a mismatch bad enough that IE couldn't resolve it.

A different browser may or may not work. You might try a different browser mode as well, but I highly doubt that will help (hit F12, which brings up a developer's console. The far-right menu should have "Browser Mode" and "Document Mode", you can change those to IE8 or IE7. Worth a shot, but don't get your hopes up).
