Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I guess the NFL has to pretend it cares about this problem when they know there isn't really anything they can do, save cancelling all the games. Hard to take the NFL serious about its concussion policy when players are back on the field a week after getting their brains scrambled. http://www.cbssports.com/nfl/eye-on-football/24256915/broncos-wr-wes-welker-practices-four-days-after-concussion
C.Biscuit97 Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Goodell and the league are just about PR. He doesn't care about players' health. He cares about the bottomline. He is trying to add more games to the schedule!!! And I used to hate Welker in NE but I admire his toughness. Unfortunately, I see a bad future for him health-wise.
Captain Hindsight Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Its really not uncommon for a guy to come back a few days later. Not sure what your point is...

Captain Hindsight Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 My point is that the NFL "dealing with this" issue is a joke I think they only thing they could really do is play flag football if they really wanted to stop it. Its a violent game. I do applaud them for trying

The Wiz Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 I'm a little confused how Welker coming back after 4 days has anything to do with the NFL?
Trump_is_Mentally_fit Posted November 22, 2013 Author Posted November 22, 2013 I'm a little confused how Welker coming back after 4 days has anything to do with the NFL? Why? I think they only thing they could really do is play flag football if they really wanted to stop it. Its a violent game. I do applaud them for trying How can you applaud them for trying when there is no way they can make a difference? I see it as all pr. If they were serious though, Welker would not be allowed to play. On a side note, I did not want Pat LaFontain to play again after his concussion woes. Loved him, still do, and that's why I'm glad he retired.
cantankerous Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 These are grown men. If Welker wants to play, let him play. What's it to you if he's cleared to play by not only his team's doctor, but also an outside doctor as well? This is football, not ladies tennis.
The Wiz Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Why? Because he was cleared to practice by team doctors and needs to be cleared still by an independent doctor to be able to play. What more should the NFL be doing? Suspend him for a game? I'm sure Welker or any other player would be thrilled to not be able to play after being cleared.

It is not within the team doctors, team management, or NFL official's authority to decide if it's safe for Welker to play. Welker must pass a battery of tests and then must be cleared to play by an independent physician. Hammering any of the above for Welker's early return is inappropriate in my opinion.
NoSaint Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 oh goody, gatorman decided to stop trolling PPP and come join the main board today.
fridge Posted November 22, 2013 Posted November 22, 2013 Yawn. Everyone is focusing on asinine assumptions, forced conspiracy theories, and pointless stories to make the NFL seem criminal. Its a sport for Christ's sake! Act like you've watched it before! Don't let it dictate your life and get wrapped up in their celebrity. Welker will in all likelihood be fine. If not, don't worry so much about him. He has fans, millions of dollars, a hot wife and a great life. You wasting your energy feeling sorry for these players is more sad than their injuries and its not even close.

I love completely wacko responses like this.
