Top 25 Buffalo wings in America

Let the debate rage!

From the list, I am partial to Gabriels (Buffalo) and Bonnies (Brooklyn)....not on the list, Casi De Pizza!

Who is that at #1? I don't think so...

They place "Pluckers" at #13...they are terrible, IMO. Not even the best wings in Austin (Casino's!), let alone the 13th best in the country!

Alot of those wings looked and sounded disgusting. There's no way Anchor Bar should've been ranked as high as 3 even if it is the birthplace of the chicken wing so the list loses all credibility right there. They got it right with having Duffs number 1 though :thumbsup:

Hate Duffs....too many Chicgao joints on that list..

This is way to big of a pool. It should be reduced for best 25 places for wings in Buffalo. For the sake of the board we should debate the top 5 places in WNY.

Unfortunately, I moved out of Buffalo when I was 12 and only go back about once a year for a wedding or the home opener. And on these trips I usually go to the same places. However, my list of top 5 wing places in WNY would be:

1. Duffs

2. Anchor Bar- (for the history)

3. Audubon North (Amherst)

4. Mammoser’s Tavern (Hamburg)

5. Loughrans (Amherst)

I wish I had more time to evaluate more places in WNY

Pluckers is really hit and miss for me. We got them catered at work a few weeks back, and their wings were actually really good. But, I've also had some awful wings from them.

Their bleu cheese is delicious, though.

There were two awesome wing places in San Antonio, both dive bars that made their own wings. Both really good.

Almost all those pics of wings showed that they were tiny in comparison to any wing you would find in even the worst places in Buffalo. And the sauces aren't even close.

Hot = Straight Franks

Medium = Half Franks and half butter

Mild = 75% Butter and 25% Franks

It really is that simple.

Here we go again, Duff's is horrible. There are so many more better place to go for wings then Duffs in WNY. Anybody that thinks differently does not know what they are talking about.

I've tried my. Fair share of wings elsewhere and its not the same.

The one mentioned in San Diego my friend lives out there & says they are horrible.

I know I've told this story before but fits here. The wings at my Dad's restaurant were great. He would never tell me where he got the recipe. So being the young cook on awe of his dad assumed it was his concoction (this was mid to late 70's when the wing craz was just starting). One day I was breaking down boxes and there it was....right on the side of the Frank's hot sauce box.

So Bonnies in Brooklyn is legit? I'll have to check it out. And I don't know the exact order but Hooters, McDonalds, and Pizza Hut are somewhere in my top 5.

Has anyone eaten at East Coast Wings and Grill? Seems like an odd one to include in the list. Seems like Buffalo Wild Wings. It has the location closest to me. Anyone that's down in SE VA like I am that hasn't tried Dirty Buffalo should give it a try. Best I've had down here.

I found a bar in Orange county CA that had the best wings outside of WNY. They're really not that hard to make.

Agreed, they're exceedingly easy to make. But a lot places still manage to screw it up. My experiences with wings outside of WNY have been disappointing. People just don't give a **** about wings outside of this region and its reflected in the product. The wing is just a vehicle for wacky sauces to many. I don't doubt theres places scattered around the country that serve wings every bit as good as what you can find in WNY, but is there enough demand outside WNY for these places to qualify as true wing joints?

I'm surprised wings are even legal in California. My ex was from LA and was scared to try wings because they're "too fatty". Her family refused and said it just doesn't sound appetizing. They said the same thing about garbage plates too. Needless to say, it didn't last.
