Koko78 Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 At least the one on the left seems like she'd have the decency shoot you while looking you in the face, rather than the moment you turned your back.
B-Man Posted November 24, 2013 Author Posted November 24, 2013 The very useful lesson FTA: It’s no secret that President Obama was behind the push to end the filibuster as a means of blocking nominees for U.S. appeals court judgeships. At a fundraiser earlier this month, he told liberal donors that he is “remaking the courts.” Recognizing that the filibuster stood in the way of a full radical makeover, Obama personally lobbied three Democratic Senators who were undecided about whether to eliminate it. Obama reportedly told them “how important this was to him and our ability to get anything done for the rest of the term.” The White House stressed the need to confirm three new judges for the D.C. Circuit, which rules on a wide swath of regulatory issues. Stymied by Congress, Obama plans to push his left-wing agenda through regulatory overreach. He needs liberal judges to prevent the resulting rules from being overturned. Now he will have three of them on the D.C. Circuit. Obama’s mission for Patricia Millett, Cornelia Pollard, and Robert Wilkins could not be more clear. No one should doubt that they will carry it out. The left never screws up this sort of thing. One consequence of ending the filibuster under these circumstances is to demonstrate just how much law has become politics by other means. And a consequence of that demonstration is to further undermine the public’s trust in the judiciary and, ultimately, the law. On balance, I consider this a good thing. Why? Because much of the important stuff that federal appeals courts do is, indeed, politics by other means, and the public needs to understand this. The more that federal judges lose their mystique, the more that realism is enhanced. The more that judicial decisions in important controversial cases are understood as ideologically driven, the better. {snip} To be clear, I don’t celebrate the fact that law has become a subdivision of partisan politics. I just think it’s a good thing that this reality is being exposed. http://www.powerline...-power-grab.php
Tiberius Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Do you ever say anything yourself? I mean you are just the right wing propaganda mill. Wow, imagine if a left winger tried to do this, joy boy, la and the rest of the lynch mob would be calling for a ban!
Doc Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Too bad Dirty Harry isn't up for being booted out next year.

keepthefaith Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 Remember a time when someone was a liar was the worst thing you could call someone and the wost thing you could be? Sad, not many remember. I remember a time when telling the truth and being big enough to admit one's own mistakes was common behavior.
boyst Posted November 24, 2013 Posted November 24, 2013 I remember a time when telling the truth and being big enough to admit one's own mistakes was common behavior. when you admit your mistake which is more "manly" aka responsible: turning the mistake over to another and facing consequences of your failures or gritting your teeth and trying again? I ask this to everyone. Really I've seen nothing but excuses from Obama so I'm not sure if he Has actually tried to face the music or roll his sleeves up.

Please...the only time Barack Obama rolls up his sleeves is when he needs to sink the putt to win the round. You're talking about a person who readily and repeatedly admits that he learns about the problems in this world the same way you do...from the news. This is a person built to take credit, not blame. He's made to tear down, not build up. And most importantly, he's built to lead nothing more than the weak-minded fools who remain stupid enough to follow him, defend him and fund him. And now we're hearing even a dolt like Al Franken wants to put the breaks on Obamacare...which means he's starting to lose the weak-minded fools now.

B-Man Posted November 25, 2013 Author Posted November 25, 2013 Liberals feel a deep need to justify their shift in positions on this issue by claiming that Republicans have engaged in a shocking departure from past practice in blocking Obama’s judicial nominees. It just isn’t so. FTA: Instead of looking at filed cloture motions, let’s look at defeated cloture motions. On this count, ten Bush 43 judicial nominees encountered a total of 20 defeated cloture motions in a period of two years. By contrast, over the nearly five years of the Obama administration, six Obama judicial nominees have suffered a total of seven defeated cloture motions. Plus, one of those six nominees, Robert Bacharach (Tenth Circuit), was defeated on cloture at the very end of July 2012 not as part of a filibuster against him but in an application of the Thurmond Rule on election-year action. (Bacharach was unanimously confirmed in February 2013.) So this data shows that ten Bush 43 nominees were filibustered, versus five Obama nominees. In sum, what the Left calls “simply undeniable” is simply false. .

His best role was as commander of the 703rd Bombardment Squadron. Seriously. Good commander, with an envious combat record. Went from private to colonel in four years.

Went from private to colonel in four years. There are some people that just deserve our admiration. I wonder how long it will take crocoschitboy to refute that? Maybe he'll come back with a witty comment about the size of my pecker.
B-Man Posted November 26, 2013 Author Posted November 26, 2013 Filibuster change damages courts, federal appeals judge says in op-ed. The additional degree of vetting/legitimacy provided by the possibility of a filibuster is important in an era where the judiciary is already seen by most as politicized. .
