Chan knew how to play to his strengths, but Hackett seems constitutionally incapable of adjusting his offensive play calling to Spiller's abilities. I suspect they avoid the spread in order to give EJ more protection and time to throw. But it's at the cost of Spiller's production as a running back and receiver. Which I am fine with, unfortunately, because the truth is what did we do with Spiller tearing it up last year? We need to win games and you can't do that in the NFL today without passing.
