we can't trade byrd cause he won't be under contract…….ughh

Sure we can...we just have to tag him again next year. We can then trade him to the highest bidder. His agent will have to work out the contract extension with the new team prior to that team agreeing to the deal.

As for the subject, I think I’ll pass on Big Ben if the cost is a #1 and Byrd. That’s too much for a QB his age. He probably only has a few good years left and has taken a beating over the years.

you better keep a close eye on the underage girls in the local bars

I wanted to post something similar the other day. how about Dad's lock up your daughters.

Didn't we have a McGee issue with young girls years back?

Why would we trade for an aging Big Ben and give up a young Pro Bowl safety, and a first round pick (which is much needed for help at other positions) when we have a kid of similar style and build in EJ who has shown plenty of promise and has a better rating than Ben had in his first 6 starts? All Ben had on EJ was wins, but that was because of a dominant D and dominant power run game, not because Ben was lighting the world on fire his rookie year.

This would be a stupid move. I get Ben is the better QB right now, but we DONT know if EJ will be better, worse, or equal. We DO know he has shown the potential to be just as good or better, and we DO know he's had 2 bad games (but so has Ben, in fact even this year he's had some miserable games as a seasoned vet). So why give up so much when we have a first round QB we can build around and keep talent and draft more talent to BUILD a better team around him?

These threads make me laugh. We're not going to trade a very good young player in Byrd for an aging 30+ veteran QB. Not going to happen. As an organization, they're also not going to get a premier QB that ultimately would stunt Manuel's growth. It makes ZERO sense in the modern era of the NFL, that once you start playing your first round potential franchise QB that you would suddenly bench him because he has growing pains. Roethlisberger's contract for next year is also $12.1 million and $11.6 million the year after. I'll chalk this thread up to the same as the Andre Johnson thread. If you really think that the Bills are going to start spending huge dollars on aging big name veterans in the waning years of their careers, I have a bridge to sell you with a complimentary troll under it. The Bills are FINALLY building the team the way they should have, and that's through youth and the draft. The comments of "let's just trade Byrd for XYZ aging veteran we don't need" should just stop.
