Chef Jim
My wife just called and she works in the Transamerica Pyramid in SF. She said they just went by and there was a good dozen motorcycle cops escorting him with helicopters following them.

Chef Jim
Here's my concern though. What's the actual cost of this and is Make-A-Wish paying all of it or is some of this tax payer money. I hate to rain on his parade so to speak but it's a legitimate concern. If Make-A-Wish paid for all of this why is his wish so elaborate? There are 1,000's of kids that are in his situation or worse. It still makes me smile when I that pic of hmi in his batkid contume but it just seems that this whole event snowballed out of control. I have no idea the ramifications/expenses incurred here and I can 'see' your point. In this case, however, I'm just gonna enjoy it and hope the expenses were 'donated' and/or covered appropriately. The Poojer
i hope that all of those 1000's are able to experience half the joy this kid is experiencing, this may work in their favor and generate some serious donation cash flow to allow more kids to have this opportunity... Oh I imagine they were. I know the Giants were very involved in this. One of the "people" he resued was their mascot Lou Seal. Make-A-Wish said this was bar far the most extravagant wish they've ever done and that was before it went viral.

I clicked on the Make A Wish site yesterday, and got an error message... the site had crashed due to high volume! So, yeah, I think it definitely helped motivate people to donate. As I understand it, Make A Wish survives on donations. The wishes are granted through a combination of donated services and money donated to pay for it all. In a couple of the articles I read, there was an outpouring of people wanting to donate their time and services - from vehicles, to hotel, to makeup artists, actors to participate, on so on. I would guess the City donated some or most of the police escort and such. Granted, I'm sure the fact that it went viral and they had crowds reaching 10,000+ was something they didn't expect (and cost more). But, I would also guess Make A Wish paid for some of the stuff as well. One of my favorite pics, online, from the event. https://pbs.twimg.com/media/BZJFN4fCEAAGBzh.png It was pretty darn incredible! Wacka
I heard someone on the radio say that most of the stuff was donated by area businesses. They had businesses calling up until it started asking what they could do.
