Doc Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 PR reason? I think it's bit too late for that. They should just take their lumps (which are coming anyway) and not pay him. it sets a bad precedent. I would just release him. Most definitely for PR reasons. Say what you want about a professional football player being bullied (although the NFL will change as a result), but in this day and age when bullying is a problem and racial tensions are high, they're not going to prod the bear by releasing him or even cutting him, over maybe half a million dollars. Hell if they're paying the bully, they'll pay him.
l< j Posted December 1, 2013 Posted December 1, 2013 Isn't this just a roster move so they can get another body on the active roster? It doesn't really mean much in terms of resolving the situation, accept to acknowledge that he won't be back on the field this year.

On mike and mike they were just discussing that philbin wanted to cut incognito before last season due to the golf course incident and was overruled. There were also undertones, which may have just been them clumsily talking or having info they weren't confident with, that philbin may have been stuck with him in the leadership role. Seems like Ireland had his back much more than philbin. If true, can you imagine how incredibly frustrated philbin must be today.

Hell if they're paying the bully, they'll pay him. It's not about money. How can they ever bring this guy back? The locker room is against him. He's not a very good T anyway. Why on earth keep him? He has negative value. Any event in the future, real or perceived, will end in another "hospitalization".
