Looks like Jonathan Martin had been bullied by his own teammates and couldn't take it anymore:

Dolphins starting right tackle Jonathan Martin has walked out on the team.

Jay Glazer of FOX Sports reports that Martin has “gone AWOL from the team the last couple days.”

Glazer said Martin had an incident in the team cafeteria this week in which teammates jokingly said they wouldn’t sit with him, and that Martin’s reaction to the joke was that he “flipped out, smashed a food tray on the ground, took off, and they haven’t seen him since.”

The Dolphins have listed Martin as doubtful for Thursday night’s game against the Bengals with an “illness” but have refused to divulge anything else about his status. Glazer also reported that Martin has gone into a treatment facility, but it is not clear what type of treatment Martin is receiving. Glazer said rumors that Martin had a confrontation with Dolphins offensive coordinator Mike Sherman are incorrect.

Wow.

Chalk another one up to Buddy!

Sounds like a mental issue, which is no laughing matter, if so. Hope the guy is alright no matter what it is he is being treated for.

never like to see another human suffer.

What are the odds that someone suffers from a mental disorder? Its no different in the NFL. Mental health needs to be addressed in this country. We wear pink for a cause that is very important but as much of a commercial fabrication as Christmas or Holloween.

Instead it will be 10 years from now when something similar happens to the guy at a grocery store and police are called. He will end up tazed or shot and then will we still look at concusions as the cause?

On another note, good thing the Phins GM traded away their 2008 #1 overall draft pick, four time all pro LT Jake Long this off season. Dunno why they didn't keep him, and keep Martin at RT. This is a big reason as to why that Dolphin O line stinks this year IMO.

It's sometimes hard to tell what the consensus is on this board but I think of the three top tackles we knew we had a shot at (we knew that Kalil would go 4th overall), that Riley Reiff (23rd overall) was the people's choice.

There were a few of us that were in Cordy's (41st overall) corner and probably just as many that liked Martin (42nd overall) better.

Interestingly the 3rd tackle taken in 2012 was Mitchell Schwartz (37th overall), taken 4 picks before we took Cordy.

The other interesting thing is that most pundits had Reiff, Cordy, and Martin as first rounders and Schwartz as a second rounder.

I'm still loving our pick.

Now being reported he has had a breakdown and is spending some time with family and seeking treatment away from the team

We all have either suffered from stress related anxiety or know someone who has. It is often more painful than other types of physical injury. Feel bad for the young man and wish him peace and a healthy return.

What it sound like s just immature bullying.

I'm sure this incident wasn't the first time.

I would react the same way and ()$& this frat house behavior and walk out.

You should remove that sentence. Theres mismanagement with some of the charitable organizations connected with that cause and it has nothing to do with mental health or mental health awareness. Pretty sure the whole birth of christ isn't a commercial fabrication. It has been very much so commercialized, but you'll have a hard time claiming Christianity was invented by Hallmark and Toys R' Us.

We probably don't expect bullying to occur among big strong NFL players, but everyone has a different level of sensitivity.

I hope he can get treatment and resume his career.

I view it as karma that Jason Pierre-Paul has been plagued by back problems ever since his repeated dunkings of Prince Amukamara in the Giants whirlpool bath.

On one hand people have to learn to stand up for themselves but on the other hand, there's no place for bullying.
