26CornerBlitz Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 I don't get why the league even tests for the stuff. I get testing for steroids, but pot is hardly a performance enhancing drug. Are they worried that he'll eat up all the donuts at the team meeting? I already feel sorry for you. Blackmon has issues with alcohol, not weed. But your point is valid.
filthymcnasty08 Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 You also probably had a better upbringing than 85% of professional athletes. And how is this relevant to the NFL rules on substance abuse?
buffaloboyinATL Posted November 3, 2013 Posted November 3, 2013 @sportingnews Jaguars' Justin Blackmon apologizes for suspension, will seek treatment for substance abuse http://bit.ly/1e3RPf2 Blackmon, 23, was suspended indefinitely without pay Friday by the National Football League. Reason: violation of the league's substance abuse program. Translation: alcohol. Weed is not his issue. Is alcohol abuse covered in the NFL substance abuse policy? Why are you so positive it is alcohol and not weed?
26CornerBlitz Posted November 3, 2013 Author Posted November 3, 2013 (edited) Is alcohol abuse covered in the NFL substance abuse policy? Why are you so positive it is alcohol and not weed? Alcohol abuse is indeed covered. Alcohol addiction/abuse has been his issue going back to his days at Oklahoma State. If you were familiar with Justin Blackmon's history you wouldn't ask that question to begin with. Plenty of information available on him and his struggles. http://www.sportingnews.com/nfl/story/2013-11-01/justin-blackmon-suspended-indefinitely-jaguars-substance-abuse-nfl-2013 Blackmon was the No. 5 pick in the 2012 NFL Draft. He was suspended for the first four games of the 2013 NFL season for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Blackmon was arrested for DUIs in 2010 and 2012. Unless he got popped for another DUI this was drug not alcohol, no? ie he may have issues with both? He isn't tested for alcohol, it's only in the drug policy on arrests I thought. This is also a third offense in the nfl suspension Edited November 3, 2013 by NoSaint
