HtownBillsFan Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I keep getting the following alert when I try to access some sites I normally am allowed to: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact..." Can anyone tell me why I am getting this and what I can do to access the sites. One site is ticketmaster. I can normally order tickets, but for the last few days I am getting this alert. Same with my online banking site. HELP!
IDBillzFan Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I am not 100% on this, but it could be that you're trying to access sites that require IE, which is bogus bull sh--, but exists nonetheless. If that happens, try right clicking on the link and then clicking on "View This Page in IE" and see if that helps.

Fezmid Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 yep, try signing in and it refuses me. 209009[/snapback] It's not Ticketmaster, as I just bought tickets a month ago... What version are you running? Download the latest. Have you rebooted your PC? (it's Windows, it likes that sort of thing) Cleared out all of your cookies, etc? What's the exact message you're getting? CW
millbank Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 your browser must be set to accept cookies , make sure it is....error messages
HtownBillsFan Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 My browser accepts cookies, I have cleared the cookies, history, etc... Im running the latest version of Mozilla and rebooted. Still the same message: "The connection was refused when attempting to contact..."
IDBillzFan Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 I'm having no problem getting to that website, so I suspect it may not be directly related to Mozilla.
millbank Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 perhaps this page will give you some help, take note of answer at bottom of page, about Norton firewall problem if you have one. This is a Mozilla forum log on a get better help perhaps. be careful with this stuff if you do not understand... error message
Ozymandius Posted January 17, 2005 Posted January 17, 2005 if you have a router, try switching it off and then back on... just trust me... this could potentially help
HtownBillsFan Posted January 17, 2005 Author Posted January 17, 2005 I disabled my Norton Internet Security and it works. So I had to tool around with my firewall and finally got everything working. Something in the firewall suddenly was effecting my connectivity with secure sites. All is well now. Thanks to all that helped!
