Steve O Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Scary report. Looking into assisted living for my parents, the difference in the facilities is eye opening. My best advice is never get old.
Just Jack Posted October 28, 2013 Posted October 28, 2013 Scary report. Looking into assisted living for my parents, the difference in the facilities is eye opening. My best advice is never get old. I did work for different facilities throughout the north east, public and private, here are two national private ones that were always well run... http://www.sunriseseniorliving.com/ http://www.atriaseniorliving.com/ (Atria was the fun one, because they would buy buildings and retrofit them, so it became a game when first arriving, figuring out the former use of the building. I've seen office buildings, hotels, and schools used)

That was two weeks ago. He's 95, had a few difficult nights because of the anesthesia but that seems to be clearing up. Trying to get him back into rehab but now he may no longer be a candidate for rehab or assisted living. Getting old ain't for wimps.
Chef Jim Posted October 29, 2013 Posted October 29, 2013 Scary report. Looking into assisted living for my parents, the difference in the facilities is eye opening. My best advice is never get old. My advice? Get a long term care policy or your kids (if you have any) could be footing a huge bill for you.

No kids...Long term policy is to have an accident cleaning a pistol. My nephew is getting his PHD in Healthcare Administration, maybe he'll get things straightened out before it comes to that!

Wacka Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 A while ago, there was one in the Buffalo area that was sending people downstate without telling their families.
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 WOW! Ain't there a special place in heaven for people like this: "The San Francisco Chronicle and other media outlets report (http://bit.ly/1dyvplR ) that paramedics also found bedridden patients attended by a handful of staff members who stayed to help them, despite not being paid. Sheriff's Sgt. J.D. Nelson said the staff members who stayed included a cook, janitor and a single caretaker who felt bad for the patients."
Frit0 Bandit0 Posted October 30, 2013 Posted October 30, 2013 (edited) Double barreled shotgun. How about Morphine and enjoy the ride out Edited October 31, 2013 by Frit0 Bandit0
Chef Jim Posted October 31, 2013 Posted October 31, 2013 How about Moraphine and enjoy the ride out Well that's mine plan. A slow heroin or morphine OD.
