tennesseeboy Posted October 21, 2013 Posted October 21, 2013 2004...Drew Bledsoe, Eric Molds, Lee Evans, Willis McGahee, Travis Henry...it is perhaps the highest point differential of any team to ever not make the playoffs. after an 0-4 start they blew through the season and then lost to Pittsburgh's third string players in the final game.
Mark Long Beach Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 2004...Drew Bledsoe, Eric Molds, Lee Evans, Willis McGahee, Travis Henry...it is perhaps the highest point differential of any team to ever not make the playoffs. after an 0-4 start they blew through the season and then lost to Pittsburgh's third string players in the final game. Of course Pittsburgh WAS the AFC team with best team finishing 15-1 and we found out that their backups were pretty good too, led by rookie fast Willie Parker who seized the starting role for them for the next few years (1200, 1500 & 1300 yards) setting numerous rushing records for them before injuries took him down. Oh and they were superbowl champs the next year. So while it sounds horrible about how we blew the season against 3rd stringers, they were a much better team, period. Don't get me wrong, I was as PO'd as anyone, but hind-site clearly shows how much better Pittsburgh was.
Dibs Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Cause and effect. Winning more games than you lose tends to lead to a bigger point differential.
mart Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 You know what they say about the stock market. Past performances are no way indicative of future results.
Hazed and Amuzed Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Cause and effect. Winning more games than you lose tends to lead to a bigger point differential. lol I thought the same thing.
K D Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 So unless we start scoring more than 24 points or holding opposing teams to less than 20 then we have no shot

Hazed and Amuzed Posted October 22, 2013 Posted October 22, 2013 Teams usually have to win more games to make the playoffs. when you win more games you tent to have a + on the points differential. Weird how that works
