Maybe, the typical voter has a short memory and will forget about previous crisis's and vote back in the same idiots. I would think that members would be far more co-operative if they knew they would be out of a job if a deal can't be reached and the election would be immediate with the issues fresh in all voters minds. Good bye Ted Cruz and other Tea Party members.

Do you agree that this country has a major spending problem?

I have to laugh at the "plight" of the federal workers who were "furloughed". When that happens in the private sector it's just tough **** for the employees when their company runs out of money and can't make payroll. They sign up for unemployment insurance with their state. If and when they're called back there's no employer that ever pays them "back wages" for the time they were out of work.

The public sector is a money-sucking whore working overtime on both knees.

I liked you better as Dave in Norfolk. "Din" was an apt description.

You could be right, but I'm guessing he's that Ducky guy. DiN was dumb, but Gatortroll is dumb and a complete douche like Ducky.

Congress to close down, fly Air Force planes to Florida for funeral of Rep. C.W. Bill Young

Congress will shut down on Thursday, and leaders have told lawmakers the Defense Department will fly them to Florida for the funeral of Rep. C.W. Bill Young, who died late last week.

Mr. Young was the senior Republican in the chamber, and the move to close down business is a mark of respect for him — though it also means that there will be no floor votes and that many committee meetings have been canceled, cutting short what was already a mostly empty week. The House’s hearing examining the health exchange rollout will continue as planned, however.

After passing a deal to raise the debt ceiling and reopen government, the Senate went on an 11-day vacation. The House was slated to be in Tuesday evening through Thursday but will now just be in for a day and a half, with the chief business a vote on a public works legislation.

House officials told lawmakers to be ready to leave Washington from Joint Base Andrews early Thursday to make the funeral in Largo, Fla., and then plan to return late in the evening.

A Pentagon spokesman couldn’t say how much it will cost to fly the members to Florida for the funeral.

Gee........I wish my "company" would pay the cost for me to go see the funeral of an ex-employee........

Perhaps you should get together with your co-workers and vote yourself a pay raise, better benefits and the right to have your "company" provide you a similar cross-country shuttle service at no charge to you.

What do you think we should do? Should the government spend within its means, or find a way to borrow money faster than can be repaid?

Definitely needs to stay within its means. Most people have to do this, so should the government.

Fair enough I misunderstood your post. I thought you were in favor to just keep borrowing with wreckless abandon
