roadglide1 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Going to the game Sunday. from troy NY ..what's the station or app you can listen to the wgr broadcast in real-time on a smartphone. I heard some espn channel ?
BillnutinHouston Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 It's been stated in similar threads earlier this year that AM 1520 broadcasts the game in synch with live action, but my experience with 1520 in the stadium was that the signal was extremely weak to the point of being useless. Maybe it was just my radio. I wish you better luck.
roadglide1 Posted October 10, 2013 Author Posted October 10, 2013 OK thanks I was hoping for a app to use ...anyone know why u can't listen to wgr ? On the phone ?
FluffHead Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 OK thanks I was hoping for a app to use ...anyone know why u can't listen to wgr ? On the phone ? wgr app can't stream the game due to nfl rules. Not to mention your battery inside the stadium will go really quickly. your best bet is to get a portable radio, I used to use a Sony one from walmart that cost about 30 bucks and worked great. The cheaper ones didn't work well in my experience. However you have to tune in to WGR and the broadcast is about 5-10 seconds behind real time, so you see it happen and then the call a few seconds later.
bflobrn Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 Try both 550 & 1520 AM, this souinds strange but I believe I heard if it is a sellout 1520AM is REAL time broadcast, if not a sellout 550AM is a REAL time broadcast.
billsFORlife50 Posted October 10, 2013 Posted October 10, 2013 It's the NFL mobile app, you can listen to the live radio broadcast of any game and choose between home and away broadcasting.
johnnychemo Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 The app won't be anything close to real time, though, and the OP wants to listen as he watches at the stadium.
boyst Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 I emailed PTR - since he can't post - - he said "1520 is real time. WGR is synced to the TV feed if the game is televised in Buffalo"
CowgirlsFan Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 Take old fashion AM/FM stereo radio headphones and listen to WGR. I took mine for the 2010 Home Opener. No issues.
Homey D. Clown Posted October 11, 2013 Posted October 11, 2013 (edited) or if you have a smartphone, use your web browser, go to wgr550.com and listen live that way. I listened to the carolina game that way. you have to have all the flashplayers on your phone, which I did, so it worked great. Edited October 11, 2013 by Homey D. Clown
vincec Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 A lot of conflicting advice in this thread. I'd be curious to hear what you find and learn the truth.
Offside Number 76 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Just get a cheap transistor radio at K-mart for ten bucks.
jimmy10 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Just put a soup can in the broadcast booth and hold another soup can in your hands at your seat. Then tie a string between the soup cans and listen that way. Make sure there's no soup in the cans first though, I learned that one the hard way.
BillnutinHouston Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Take old fashion AM/FM stereo radio headphones and listen to WGR. I took mine for the 2010 Home Opener. No issues. Pretty sure that in 2013, WGR is NOT synced to live action.
BUNCH OF MULARKEY Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Pretty sure that in 2013, WGR is NOT synced to live action. Sure doesn't seem like its synced for me. I've tried all possible combinations of 550,1520, 96.5 wcmf, open air cbs, time warner cbs buffalo and rochester. Direct tv is way behind. The best combination I can find is wcmf with Wroc channel 8 in rochester. The tv is a few seconds ahead which makes it watchable anyways. A couple years ago when the games were on 97 rock they synced it perfectly, even when the games were on fox. Those were the good old days, and there was no mike shoop on the post game show.
Just Jack Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 According to the Bills website.... Beginning with the season opener, WGR will simulcast its broadcast live without delay on WWKB 1520 AM for fans in the stadium. WWKB will switch over to game coverage 15 minutes prior to kickoff. http://www.buffalobills.com/media-center/radio-network-listing.html
jr1 Posted October 12, 2013 Posted October 12, 2013 Just listen to the drunks around you talk about the game
