Alphadawg7 Posted October 7, 2013 Posted October 7, 2013 (edited) I am reposting this mods...I am sorry, but I dont get why you locked this originally. Its a different approach on this topic, and i dont see a thread focusing on the positives of the FO relevant to today. You dont have to lock and merge every thread...there are only a handful of topics to discuss on this board, so sometimes there will be different approaches to those topics, you dont have to merge them all into an 80 page thread or lock it every time. The constant slamming of the FO lately is very misguided. I just dont get why so many people keep saying "same ole Bills" or slamming the FO this year. So lets look at what this FO has done thus far since it took over. 1 - Signed one of the hottest HC candidates in Marrone 2 - Brought in a stud DC in Pettine 3 - Brought in a capable backup QB in Kolb knowing they would draft a rookie QB (not their fault he got a career ending concussion) 4 - Traded a uselsess player in Shepphard for Hughes who has made an impact on the pass rush. 5 - Traded Tavon for picks that worked out great for us...thanks for allowing us to fleece you St Louis 6 - Speaking of draft, first 4 picks were EJ, Woods, Kiko, and Goodwin...wow, looks like one of the better drafts by any team in a while if things keep going they way they are. 7 - Signed key free agents in Lawson and Leonard 8 - Didn't make the mistake of over paying Levitre (who has been underwhelming in Tenn so far on a team who still has trouble in pass protection and run blocking). 9 - Didnt cave to Byrd who has wanted to be paid above where his level of play has been. I love Byrd, have since college, but the money he has asked for is not equal to what he has consistently done on the field yet. Potential is there, but he wants money he hasn't earned yet IMO. 10 - Didn't over look talent for off field issues. Taking guys like Kiko and Meeks in the draft is NOT something this team would have done in the past and look at how much its paid off. Kiko is a player, big time player potential too, and this kid would have not even been on the draft board in the old regime. Negatives 1 - Didnt bring in any help at guard really. Only so many holes you can fill in an offseason, however, I do feel there were FA guys we could have explored. 2 - Not keeping Tavaris Jackson. I thought we should have kept him over Kolb just simply on the fact that Kolb is made of glass and Tavaris fits more of the mold of the offense they were trying to build here for EJ. Overall, their positives waaaaaay out weigh any negatives right now. This team is being steered in a different direction and it looks like a good one right now. Despite a plethora of injuries to key players, we are only about 3-5 plays away from being 5-0 right now. This team is headed in a very good direction overall. There will be growing pains, but the new regime has done A LOT to get this headed in a better direction in one off season. Edited October 7, 2013 by Alphadawg7
