Big Turk Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 This defense when healthy should be good enough to prop up a sickly offense for a few games if Manuel is out for any length of time... They need to get together and really be ready to shut down their opponents during this time and take over the games until Manuel can play(if in fact he is out). Push each other to not allow anything. They are good enough when healthy it appears to pretty much shut down everything...now they just have to have the mindset they are going to lead this team to wins...
boyst Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Not trying to be a jerk or anything... but I am curious what your point is? I was hoping for more of an elaborate post on what they need to do... Because, quite frankly, they don't stand a chance taking this field alone without an offense to give them fresh legs. We have two guys who are a little limp on the DL. We have LB's who are good but can't carry it all. We have bandaids for DB's. The D can come in with a mindset of moving a mountain but it doesn't just happen like that and to get your hopes up is just going to make it that much harder to swallow when the defense is the only unit that shows up in Cinci.
Big Turk Posted October 4, 2013 Author Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) I know they are not as good as the Bears or Ravens D used to be that always talked about how they believed they were going to outscore the other teams offense and that any points the offense got was a bonus... They can be an elite defense when healthy, imo, and they are going to need to step up and take control of these games...especially if Manuel is out. Shut them down, hold them to FGs, defensive stands, give the offense short fields with turnovers, defensive scores...whatever it takes... They need to accept the challenge and rise up, this offense is going to need them to play big Edited October 4, 2013 by matter2003

The secondary being weak has elevated the play of the rest of the players. Addition by subtraction. Gilmore, Byrd and McKelvin coming back will be huge.
