Mark80 Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 (edited) A sprain could mean anything. Some of the things it could mean could be very bad. When I tore my ACL completely in two, the diagnosis sheet said ACL "sprain". I hope the fact that EJ could walk afterwards is a good sign, but I could too within 20 minutes of tearing my ACL. Yeah, but I'd put money on the fact that you couldn't do those drop backs like he was doing on the sideline after. ACLs provide lateral support and really don't have anything to do with walking/running down a straight line. Once he was shuffling his feet testing out the drop backs and it didn't give, I was pretty confident that it was not an ACL tear. Edited October 4, 2013 by Mark80
Arkady Renko Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Yeah, but I'd put money on the fact that you couldn't do those drop backs like he was doing on the sideline after. ACLs provide lateral support and really don't have anything to do with walking/running down a straight line. Once he was shuffling his feet testing out the drop backs and it didn't give, I was pretty confident that it was not an ACL tear. I didn't realize he was doing drop backs. I must have missed that. I could do more than straight ahead, but I wasn't pretending to be a QB on the sidelines. Still, I am not sure that we can breathe any sigh of relief that is not serious until we see the diagnosis.
BuffalOhio Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I've torn both ACL's. I don't think EJ tore his. It looks like a simple hyperextension to me. I'll bet he plays in 10 days. Hopefully he learns to get out of bounds next time. Brian Hoyer on the other hand, that's one messed up right knee.
PearlHowardman Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I wouldn't say that's "Good" news. This could actually be bad news.
AKA Bigdog Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 There is no good news concerning this team right now.
BuffalOhio Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 There's no way he does those test drop backs with a torn ACL. His knee would have buckled immediately while doing so. I think he'll be fine.
garbag3man Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 Agreed that he dodged a bullet. Watch clips of Jake Ballard trying to cut in the Super Bowl a few years ago, that's what a torn ACL is. EJ hopefully learned a valuable lesson, and escaped major injury.
Kirby Jackson Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I am hearing 6-10 weeks is what they suspect but will know more today (can't reveal the source)
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I am hearing 6-10 weeks is what they suspect but will know more today (can't reveal the source) weeks? really?
Kirby Jackson Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 weeks? really? That's the text I got about 20 minutes ago...I didn't suspect that bad
Miyagi-Do Karate Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 That's the text I got about 20 minutes ago...I didn't suspect that bad Yeah, when I saw it, I suspected more of a knee bruise. This is horrible. The one thing we needed out of this season was EJ to get reps--now he will end up playing 6-7 games this year? Hope your source is wrong.

buffaloboyinATL Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I am hearing 6-10 weeks is what they suspect but will know more today (can't reveal the source) Wow, I hope your source is wrong. I was thinking he would be back by the next game.

It just didn't look that bad to me and then he was on the bike. I thought that he may come back in the game. Maybe the MRI today will not be as bad as they think.
G-Daddy Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I am hearing 6-10 weeks is what they suspect but will know more today (can't reveal the source) Yikes.....time to really tank for Clowney?

Maybe the MRI today will not be as bad as they think. ESPN is saying sprained MCL, which could mean some time missed... or could be similar to FJ, thats what the MRI would tell.what grade it is, 6-10 weeks seems like a bit much, but I'm no Dr.
Kirby Jackson Posted October 4, 2013 Posted October 4, 2013 I am hoping that the MRI comes back better than expected but am not holding my breath. We never catch a break.
