I've folllowed the Bills for a while, and something just occurred to me. I mentioned it to a friend before the game today, "I dont know who's going to win but Buffalo has a habit of letting a player that has never really done anything to have the game of their lifetime against Buffalo and win the game for their team."

...and of course Travis Benjamin has the game of his life.

today:

7 punt returns for 179 yards and a touchdown

his entire career before today:

13 punt returns for 226 yards and a touchdown

he nearly matched his career yardage in one night against buffalo.

A few weeks ago...

Bilal Powell, 27 carries for 149 yards

his previous career high: 17 carries for 78 yards

in 2008...

Ted Ginn, 7 catches for 175 yards

his ONLY 100 yard receiving game in his 7 year career

...

can anyone remember other guys?

oh, here's a good one.

Stephen Hill, WR, New York Jets

197 of his career 485 yards and 3 of his 4 career touchdowns are against the bills, with both of his best games being against Buffalo.

THey also showed yesterday that Cleveland had lost 25 in a row when they were down by at least 8 points during a game. Sure enough the Bills break that streak!

Ryan Moats, RB who played for Houston at the time

had career highs of

23 carries for 126 yards w 3 touchdowns against Buffalo

career numbers: 204 carries, 831 yards, 8 touchdowns. sigh. this is depressing.

It's usually a running back, either an average back or someone you've never even heard of that breaks out against the Bills. You'll hear the words "career high" out of the announcers toward the end of the 3rd quarter.

When a team is weak like the Bills have been for more than a decade, then mediocre to good players that may not have had breakout games before have a good chance of doing so against the weak team. It happens so much because the Bills have been a weak team for so long.
