Big Turk Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) I know people who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, and as a Bills fan our house is about as glass as it can get, but what is happening right now in Tampa bay with Josh Freeman, Greg Schiano, Mark Dominik the GM and how it is being handled is just ridiculous. Players don't like Schiano, they think he is a liar and cannot be trusted, and things are just turning from bad to ugly to unfathomable. It really started coming out when Schiano alledgedly rigged the ballot box and took the captaincy away from Freeman, who as a QB should obviously be one of the captains unless you are a rookie. Then Freeman started playing poorly and the really weird stuff started happening. Schiano appears "out to get" Freeman at whatever costs necessary. This has gone way, way beyond a player perfoming poorly and losing his job, this has become Greg Schiano has a strong personal vendetta against Josh Freeman, something that is just childish. It leaks out he missed a mandatory team photo, it leaks out he is in a drug testing program, Buc officials refuse to allow him on the field and make him sit in the inactive box, Freeman then goes to sti with his family and friends in a box HE pays for out of his own pocket, and is told that he cannot be in there by Buc officials and needs to return to the inactive players box. Then media notice Freeman's locker is completely empty and then hear that Freeman was told not to come to a meeting and then GM Dominik claims its because coach Schiano wanted to "talk with him afterwards". This is turning into an absolute embarrassment for not only the Tampa Bay Buccaneer organization but also the NFL. IT looks ugly from way up in Buffalo, can't imagine what people are saying down in Tampa. Now there has been a clear violation of somebody's medical rights, which is a very serious offense legally, forget about the NFL's policies, in which it is also a serious violation. If I aws the owner of the Bucs I would be getting my boot warmed up and clean house...Dominik obviously has lost control of the situation and it appears Schiano is the one with all the power down there... Its to the point it would be almost comical if it wasn't happening in the NFL...but since it is its just downright embarrassing....this is the type of stuff you hear from people playing in third division Italian soccer leagues, not the most powerful league on the planet that always has its media darling facade on... NoSaint Posted October 2, 2013 Share Posted October 2, 2013 Any links to sources of information? broadstrokes, ill say he just rehashed some news stories and its not made up stuff (accuracy of the news of course being whatever you take that to be but all the major nationals have hit these bullet points). while this is being outlined as a Schiano-freeman dispute its turning into a DISASTER of leadership for the glazers who are already pretty well disliked by the fanbase for a variety of embarassing stories the last few years. Big Turk Posted October 2, 2013 Author Share Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) I've read several articles regarding the situation that contained all of what I posted and even more...if I can go back and find them I'll link to them, pretty easy to find tho, they are being put out by national media people with all the "dirt" accumulated and laid out in the articles...apparently the players have already had "several" player only meetings to discuss their hatred of everything Schiano...sounds like it might be a mutiny by the end of the season... I was reading and wondering how this is happening on an NFL team...it would be embarrassing if this was happening at Tommy's corner bakery, let alone an NFL team... EDIT: OH, forgot to even mention about how Schiano covered up the fact two players got MSRA Staph infections from team facilities and was called out by kicker Lawrence Tynes and his wife over social media for being a "liar" during training camp... I was reading and wondering how this is happening on an NFL team...it would be embarrassing if this was happening at Tommy's corner bakery, let alone an NFL team... the glazers have been getting blasted for not running the team properly for years. this just seems to be the latest and most public breakdown as a result of it. its ranged from this all the way down to providing essentially no security at open practices. top to bottom its been messy for awhile, but by virtue of being a big multi billion dollar ship filled with atleast some professionals it hasnt gotten tooooo ugly. well, until they let schiano take the reigns. I like Schiano, but no one knows who is the problem. It will come out soon enough, but there are reports on Freeman, and on Schiano. I'm just happy my Bills have some hope. Players have told their agents about coaches roaming through the locker room (typically the players’ sanctuary away from coaches) and staff videotaping players on the sidelines during losses to single out players laughing or horsing around. The players also speak to the influx of multiple Rutgers players from Schiano’s past and the use of the phrase “Schiano Men,” a term that clearly does not apply to Freeman. Yeah, I mean it just keeps getting crazier and crazier...maybe that stuff works in college, but that is only going to work in the NFL if your team is winning because you can point to the behaviors you are instilling throught that...and even then only for so long...just ask Tom Coughlin whose teams routinely made the playoffs and even won the Super Bowl... when you are 0-4 and seemingly in freefall, nobody is buying into that... Schiano is so blinded by his almost maniacal need to completely destroy Josh Freeman he can't see its leading to his downfall... BuffalothruMyVeins Posted October 3, 2013 Share Posted October 3, 2013 If this mess is true, I feel bad for Lindell, for him being such a professional for us for a decade and having to end up in this mess just to keep his career going. He seems professional enough to stay out of it, and I imagine the "specialists" are somewhat seperate from the rest of the team, but still a lousy situation.
