/dev/null Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I was eating a sub this afternoon with big giant leafy lettuce on it that I ended up taking off. Then I wondered, what is the point of lettuce anyway?
Pete Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 cool, crisp contrast to the sub. Contrasts and textures bring out flavors. As succinctly as I can put it, what is a BLT without lettuce?
Just Jack Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I never bother with lettuce when getting a sub made, useless vegetable, it's mostly water anyways.

Clockwork Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 In a world where spinach and arugula exist, there is no need for lettuce
mrags Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Depends on the sub I'm eating. Big fan of shredded lettuce on certain subs. Steak, BBQ chicken finger.

I'd agree if you're talking about all of those awful designer lettuce leaves they have nowadays (rocket etc).....but traditional iceberg lettuce, Yum!
The Poojer Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 I always ask for spinach in place of lettuce. I have the forearms to prove it On 10/2/2013 at 5:39 AM, Clockwork said: In a world where spinach and arugula exist, there is no need for lettuce

dib Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Lettuce among other veggies is kind of like drano for your GI tract
The Poojer Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 cheese maybe, but not mayo, i will ask for avocado instead of mayo a lot of times On 10/2/2013 at 11:09 AM, PastaJoe said: And the stomach to prove you ask for extra cheese and mayo.

It would have been a home run had you just said BTO. Us old farts would have gotten it.
Maury Ballstein Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) the point of lettuce especially shredded lettuce is tacos. taco's wouldn't exist without the lettuce and that would not be great. were talking traditional beef cheese lettuce taco. lettuce is also needed for cheesesteaks/burgers/most varieties of chicken sandwiches in my world.
