Maury Ballstein Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I didn't just shake my head at this thread, I actually got pissed. Give me a freaking break- the guy was arguably the second best running back in the NFL last year and you want to trade him after three games- one of which he ran for 100 yards? You want to become the Browns and have our front office send us the message that they're throwing in the towel on this season? Yeah that'll go over well. Get outta here man. No really, get outta here. Agree. Really. Wow, I don't know what is more shocking, Stephen Davis still being in the league or FireChan comparing Slaton to Spiller. Firechan is a spiller troll, must have been shunned for an autograph or something. He's been on a spiller crusade for months.
Bills!Win! Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Maybe we should trade Spiller for Skelton
Solomon Grundy Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 How about our OC take a look at the success Spiller had running the ball last year and incorporate that running scheme into his system because trying to run out of the read option isn't cutting it!
PromoTheRobot Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 When you say trade Spiller I assume you mean get a #1 for him? After all if the Browns could do it anyone can. I mean it must be in the NFL bylaws somewhere that says you have to get a #1 anytime you ask for one even if no other team wants the guy you are trading. PTR

PTR Spiller is definitely worth more than Richardson. But we do not have any idea what's on offer, and frankly, this team needs a (correctly-used) Spiller.

But we do not have any idea what's on offer, and frankly, this team needs a (correctly-used) Spiller. My point is is there a team willing to give up a #1 right now like the Colts? I say no. In fact I think the Colts were nuts to do what they did. High risk move. One minute we are saying never use a 1 to draft a RB, the next we are saying of course Spiller is worth a 1. Maury Ballstein Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Maybe we should trade Spiller for Skelton Now it's starting to make sense. Get er dun. Skelton for the win.
gobillsinytown Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 How about this: Trade Spiller, EJ, and SJ to Washington for RGIII. Then, Send RG III to the Browns for 13 draft picks next year. Superbowl!
Over 29 years of fanhood Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 We win were going to the super bowl we lose trade everyone! Same BS different year. No no, a GMs job is to consider all scenarios. You need to be open mined here. Again my insinuation is Spiller is worth more to the team than he would garner in trade, but football is human trafficking and aa race to put the best roster on the field for the least money.
Turbosrrgood Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I have to say I would trade Spiller. Cleveland took a lot of heat for trading Trent Richardson but they got good value for him. Spiller and RB's are not the answer in the NFL. They aren't even in the question anymore. As many on here point out, their ability to pass block is probably more important than their ability to run. This team has only one asset of any value - Spiller. Go ahead and accuse me of trading away the good players. I ask you what is the chance he resigns with the team? At 6 yards a carry last year how many wins did that translate into? This team needs multiple OL, multiple TE's, a gamebreaking WR, two DB's, and now a DE. It is time to make up for yet another bad decsion by Nix and build this team around the o-line, EJ, and the passing game like every other succesful team is doing. I started typing a well thought out explanation as to why this is a horrible idea...Instead I'll just leave it simple, this is a horrible idea for many reasons. The one simple reason I will provide is that this is young team with many rookies, and rookie coaches. Having a panic attack and trying to give away your good players does not help the team.
NoSaint Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 I'm an advocate of doing the opposite of whatever the browns do
JTO Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 JTO, Fergy, Captain - what do you suggest? Put it out there so we can see what you would do. Continue to build through the draft and resign our own? Spend big in FA? Don't spend in FA? At first, I would trade Byrd, by all means necessary, to any team not in the AFC East. Either for a 2nd rounder or a player. A Williams is holding it down just right. I would also entertain dangling M Williams. I feel that Mario disappears frequently and so perhaps it's time to see what we can get in the draft at DE or trade him for a guard. Would live to trade him to Minny for Levitre.
Heitz Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Did TBD go Full Retard last night? Wow, just wow...
Bill from NYC Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 My point is is there a team willing to give up a #1 right now like the Colts? I say no. In fact I think the Colts were nuts to do what they did. High risk move. One minute we are saying never use a 1 to draft a RB, the next we are saying of course Spiller is worth a 1. Makes sense. And btw I don't think that any team would give us a #1 for Spiller. Perhaps a number 2, but I am not positive of this. I agree that the Colts got the worst of the Richardson trade, and I'm a Bama Fan.

I bet Minnesota would be ecstatic to trade the rights to Levitre for even a used jock strap.
RCOHEN13 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Spiller is arguably our best offensive player. Our OC wants to give him the ball til he throws up. He isn't going anywhere Are u kidding??? ARGUABLY ??? HE IS IS BY FAR AND AWAY THE BEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER!
Maury Ballstein Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Levitre is a Titan not a Viking if that. Matters in this theoretical trade
mikef272002 Posted September 25, 2013 Posted September 25, 2013 Trade Spiller why..? Because our OC can't find a way to use one of the most dynamic players in the NFL..? Why don't we trade our OC..! Every time a new staff comes in they get rid of a few of the young good players and then get fired 2 years later and we do it all over again..
