Captain Hindsight Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 So my iphone4 wants me to update my phone to iOS7 and needs the 2.9 GB to do it. My phone is old and only has 8GB total memory. My question is once I download the ios7, will I have used up that 2.9 GB of data and can't use it for anything else or does it just erase my old operating system and I will have roughly the same data space as before?
Nanker Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 SETTINGS > GENERAL > USAGE > look at the very top. It'll tell you how much ram you have left and how much you're taking up with apps and pics of your favorite porn star models. Your old system takes up some memory so that will be freed up - but I think iOS7 is heavier than 6.

Gugny Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 So it will overwrite the old system and use that space? The space being taken up by iOS6 will be freed; then replaced by the space taken up by iOS7 ... but iOS7 takes up more space than iOS6.
Captain Hindsight Posted September 23, 2013 Author Posted September 23, 2013 The space being taken up by iOS6 will be freed; then replaced by the space taken up by iOS7 ... but iOS7 takes up more space than iOS6. Gotcha. Alright thanks
Gugny Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 ios7 sucks. i hate it. I don't mind it. But it seems to drain the battery more quickly, which I find odd.
Cugalabanza Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I haven't upgraded yet. Any advantages to the new os?
Nanker Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I haven't upgraded yet. Any advantages to the new os? Me either. But now I have 28 apps saying they have updates available - they've been optimized for the new OS. You get some free apps - like Apple's version of MS Office i.e. Pages, Numbers, and Keynote.

Nanker Posted September 23, 2013 Posted September 23, 2013 I got Numbers but not the others on my phone. Ten bucks.
