/dev/null Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Just curious, anyone know how much that sign cost? You'd think maybe somebody was planning on a shutdown...
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The problem with the are repubs is that tying this to Obamacare is annoying. Attack ACA by other means and stop being whiney bitches and adding killing ACA to every bill. At the moment, you can't rescind it. The votes aren't there. Grow up and start working on other ways to control spending. By the way, the next time the Dems shut down government over the Reps bad acts, I hope the same people return on the same sides of the pro-con shutdown. BINGO! ^^^^^This.

ExiledInIllinois Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) Just curious, anyone know how much that sign cost? Circa 1996? I jest. Probably pre-made (but not what you think)... Sign department. I can go through the two full size binders that is the USACE's "sign manual" and it is amazing what detail there is that regulation guide! Probably going back forever... Every detail, font, spacing, etc... is laid out. What I am saying is that the Department of Interior has to be the same way, and knowing they are non-essential probably has this sign in their regulation catalog! LoL... It is just a matter of asking the printing/sign shop to pull it off the shelf. Believe it or not, there are some things the gov't is really organized about! :wallbash: Edited October 2, 2013 by ExiledInIllinois
birdog1960 Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 How in earth did you become a doctor on an associates degree. The part about academics questioning things may be true but they'll always come to the same conclusion. Left is right. I live near Berkeley so I know this to be very true. And a bigger group of smug !@#$s I've never seen you all act like all universities are the same. mit is nothing like wvu. liberty is in few ways similar to brandeis...and so on. but go ahead, continue to base your conclusions on one university. They were predicting an economic disaster today. The Dow went up 62 points. supposedly because they thought it would be settled soon. down over 100 this am. American universities aren't about knowledge and haven't been for a very long time. But you keep subscribing to the bumper sticker/talking point bull **** and pretending we're moving forward. wow. what do you base this on? i posted a picture of the scientists intimately involved in the manhattan project, recently. all they did was save the world. they were academics. great thinkers. many of them pacifists that realized the necessity of their efforts. and similar great minds are out there and being developed and fostered in our universities. and, yup, some of them work on "useless" things like the humanities and arts.
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Also: Many moons ago (late 1980's) I worked a history grant for the BECPL (Buffalo Library) downtown. The job was to go into the stacks (BECPL has 1/2 floor stacks in between each floor) and pull material to be looked up in OCLC (Online Computer Library Center) and then logged into the library's computer system... At that time TOLIS (Total Online Information System) This was the first stages of getting everything they owned into a central database. Anyway, you'd be amazed @ the material... ESPECIALLY military going way back, pre-WWI/WWII... Even further... Pamphlets and what not were a son of a gun to find a record in OCLC... Like how to build a landing strip, concrete work, and other construction projects. LoL... Again, the government going way back into our history has never been that disorganized how people make them out to be! When it came to actually producing something that could be built or utilized. FWIW, we almost always found a match in OCLC.

Just because we slightly agree, don't think it means much. I loathe ACA.
Tiberius Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Just because we slightly agree, don't think it means much. I loathe ACA. Why?
John Adams Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Why? Sorry Dave. Have fun with the other people who like talking to you like DC Tom (once he gets off his ban). I'm not into it.
Tiberius Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Sorry Dave. Have fun with the other people who like talking to you like DC Tom (once he gets off his ban). I'm not into it. Well, you have thrown enough stones at me, thought you might want to explain yourself for once. That's cool though.
ExiledInIllinois Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 (edited) LoL... Wow... Yachters (this is the time of the year we get the snowbirds heading south... FLA, Caribbean, etc...) are actually calling the Coast Guard to see if the locks & dams are open or closed. Edited October 2, 2013 by ExiledInIllinois
Joe Miner Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Well, you have thrown enough stones at me, thought you might want to explain yourself for once. That's cool though. Do you explain yourself to the flies you swat?
B-Man Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Well, even poor administrators can eventually learn I guess...................although they'll probably just get his "fallback" lecture.. Obama Invites Congressional Leaders to WH . .
Tiberius Posted October 2, 2013 Author Posted October 2, 2013 Do you explain yourself to the flies you swat? Do you ever have anything even remotely intelligent to say at all?
B-Man Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 The Obama administration is adding more barricades at the World War Two Memorial in Washington, D.C. this morning, according to reporters on the scene. The reinforcements are being put in place apparently to prevent a repeat of yesterday when WWII veterans aided by several Republican Congressmen pushed aside barricades to visit their memorial. Buzzfeed got no response from the White House last night when queried about the administration closing the memorial to veterans. A report last night claimed that the Park Service would arrest veterans who attempt to visit the WWII Memorial. .

B-Man Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Does it cost more to barricade Barackades than to let the Heroes in? Corrected. Apparently Fork lift operators are essential to this government. The latest word is when the buses showed up again today (with some congressional escort) the Park police backed off again and let them in. .

They just had on the news here in Chicago, a contingent of WWII vets leaving Midway Airport for their excursion to DC... Looks like most of them were in wheelchairs. From the Halls of Montezuma to the barricades of DC! Corrected. Apparently Fork lift operators are essential to this government. The latest word is when the buses showed up again today (with some congressional escort) the Park police backed off again and let them in. . Looks like the fork lift operator is doubling as a parks cop.
Doc Posted October 2, 2013 Posted October 2, 2013 Corrected. Apparently Fork lift operators are essential to this government. The latest word is when the buses showed up again today (with some congressional escort) the Park police backed off again and let them in. Reportedly Putin orchestrated it.
