RuntheDamnBall
http://buffalo.ynn.c...y-hurt-in-game/ Keep this kid and his family in your thoughts and prayers, Bills fans. It does not look good for him at present. Reminds me that this is a rough sport that we enjoy, and it's incumbent upon coaches and families to teach these guys that proper tackling doesn't need to involve the use of your helmet. Wooderson
RIP. Just an awful, terrible situation. As a football coach I saw two kids get taken away in ambulances last season for neck injuries. It's such a violent game, you can't stress enough how important it is to keep your head up. It's such a violent game, you can't stress enough how important it is to keep your head up. i cant even imagine. recently saw an outside the lines or something of the sort on kids that got catastrophic injuries in HS and where they are now and it was definitely a major downer about the state of care that some of the kids end up getting. the risk/reward ratio for these kids playing football at a youth level was depressing to say the least. ajzepp
This just makes my heart sink...so sad. All these injuries remind me of how lucky I was when I played...there was one collision in particular where it really could have been ugly. I feel so bad for the parents and family/friends... RIP, young man
bbb
This whole thing leaves so many questions. First they cancelled the season, and then Keith McShea had a follow up article about it because a lot of people thought they shouldn't have. I thought it should be up to the players. It seemed McShea thought so, too, but his article never got an answer to what the players thought. Then, the whole "cause" is put into question. All along it was said that it was a helmet to helmet hit. But, then Portville (the opposing team and the home team) - their head coach watched the game film over and over and saw no such hit.........But, he won't give the game film to McShea or the News to take a look. It's kind of strange how the whole thing unfolded: http://www.buffalonews.com/columns/keith-mcshea/game-film-reveals-no-answers-to-janes-death-20131003 Then, they have a big article this week about the 6 players in WNY football history who have died. Now they've tempered it down to "a hit" and say that it's up to his parents whether they want to release the results of the autopsy because he was under 18: http://www.buffalonews.com/sports/high-schools/when-football-is-life-and-death-20131008
aussiew
I feel so sad for his family. But in perspective...there are a lot more 16 year old boys dying in car accidents than from playing football.
