BFLO/WNY Question: Chestnut Ridge View

I'm certain you can see Niagara falls, I haven't looked lately but I thought on a clear day you could faintly see some of toronto.

I want to say the (city) to the right of downtown buffalo you are asking about is UB and amherst

I thought that... But what I seen is way far off and faded! UB would be very close... Look how close the Basilica looks.

I posted a picture on page one. Yes you can see NF... It is that rectangle building off to the left (northwest) past BFLO. The day I was there, You could see the mist! Toronto would seem to be inline with BLFO/NF. Rochester would be to the far right (east)... Rochesetr would have the same horizon line as NF. NF would be upper left corner, Rochester in the upper right corner. Rochester has many more and taller buildings than NF. I wish my son didn't dump the pics... He is claiming that they were badly pixelated... LoL... Shot with an iPhone 4s.

I am coming to the conclusion that it was Rochester... What else could it be? Hope mrags can go on a very clear day and shoot a panorama shot... From Lake to east @ just under 180*!!! It would be one of the only ones posted online!

ill get a nice panoramic for sure. Just gonna take a while. In off work for almost a month but my car died completely the other day. Not gonna have anyone to look at it until Thursday, so I have no idea when I'll be back on the road. It better be before I head back to work though, that's for sure.

Im asking my buddy right now who does a lot of surveying and he's thinking UB area.

Between Dent Tower, UB, the Marriott, the UB Stadium. Would look like sky scrapers and a city. That's his thoughts. Well know more when I go take a pic.

my brother coached track for Mount Mercy and the girls trained there. The hill you are talking about is called "Mother" by a lot of track atheletes and believe me it is not a term of endearment.

Tenny... That would be the sledding/toboggan/ski hill right? Interesting, I supposed it would be one bad mother if used it in the summer and running up/down it... In winter, it is a pretty nice sledding hill. Toboggan chutes for me (maybe the days we went) never seemed to live up to the hype. They have (or had) a rope tow (and even a T-bar) on the ski side back in the day (not sure if they still do?)... BUT the hill for skiing is a nothing but a bunny slope... Good for teaching people first time ever on skis... Used to be free... The rope tow that is.

when I ran track the hill we used to practice on was at the corner of Sheridan and Youngs. It's gotta be about a half mile, all uphill. Very steep slope. Run all the way up top full speed, then turn and run down full speed. After about 5 of those, our coach would hop back in his car and wave as he told us to hurry back to the school. Williamsville North was about 5 miles away. I remember the first time I did that I dropped my 400 time by 10 seconds.

I talked about it in another thread... That is really close to Main and the Onondaga formation (Onondaga Escarpment)

My son played hockey at Brockport and they had a very steep hill that they did windsprints on near the family apartments. The team was dying every time I saw them going up and down that hill. Not to talk about "my day" but in my day we had football practice with no water to drink and finished with killing wind sprints. Wow did water taste good after that. Wonder some of us didn't die in some of those practices.
