LewPort71 Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 My daughter and her hubby just finished hiking the Appalachian Trail. The began in late February and finished on Monday Sept. 9. Below is a link to their journal of the trip. It is a great accomplishment and we are very proud of them. http://www.trailjour...y.cfm?id=398381 This is the first of many pages.
/dev/null Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 You have died of dysentery. Oh wait nvm, that's Oregon Trail
Gugny Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 My neighbor just told me tonight that his daughter finished the Appalachian Trail on Monday, too.
Pete Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 Awesome! Good for them. This is on my bucket list. I have a few friends that hiked the whole traIl and they tell me of the "trail magic". People take care the hikers, and sometimes leave fresh baked pies at a shelter, or cold beers in a stream. Pretty awesome. Well that is quite the accomplishment. Congrats
BillsFanNC Posted September 13, 2013 Posted September 13, 2013 That's awesome, you should be proud of them. I'd love to do that too one day.
LewPort71 Posted September 14, 2013 Author Posted September 14, 2013 We are very proud of them and am back in SWV now. After completing the trail we vacationed in Bar Harbor ME. Instead of 'trail' magic, they enjoyed 'lobster' magic. While in Maine, we came within 10 feet of hitting a moose on the road. We were looking on the rhside of the road and she came from the left. Thank goodness for good eyes, great reflexes and superb brakes.
Quester74 Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Saved this to my favorites.. want to read the whole thing when I have more time.
BillsFanM.D. Posted September 14, 2013 Posted September 14, 2013 Fantastic! Good for them. The third entry about the 'scary' night is, well..... scary.
BuffaloBud Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 This has been nice to read. They sound like a couple of real nice kids. I may have missed / not got to yet - what were their trail names?
Drifter Posted September 15, 2013 Posted September 15, 2013 Congrats to them. That is one long journey. Good thing you avoided the moose. Friend is a truck driver and has told me about the extesive damage one of them can do to a truck. Can only imagine how bad the damage would be on a car.
LewPort71 Posted September 15, 2013 Author Posted September 15, 2013 Trail names were Twix and Paraguay. Moose + Car collision means New Car...
rochester rob Posted September 21, 2013 Posted September 21, 2013 Thank you for sharing. The journal was very entertaining and informative. Congrats to the couple.
