Um...guys this is all you need to know!  If we would have picked an OL in that spot, this board would have flipped.  Ed has it exactly right.  We went into the draft last year needing a Dlineman and came away with the guy that was targeted in that timeframe with our next pick.  McGahee was a bonus, in my mind an excellent move.

You can all say, well this player was better last year, that player started 16 games, etc.  As they say, 'Hindsight is 20-20'.

Lets look at this years draft:  Lee Evans if he doesn't start "that pick sucks!", Losman broken leg and won't start this year "what a waste."  Eli Manning, Philip Rivers, half of the other 1st rounders - they all suck! because they probably won't contribute a whole lot this year.  Lighten up people, you draft for the future.  One year does not a future make.

Yes, and this is TD's 4th year drafting for the future.

We needed a lot of help last year, not just on the defensive line. The only way that drafting McGahee makes sense is if he ends up being a better back than Henry. Only time will tell.

you guys do realize steinbach is hurt, right??

he had off-season elbow surgery (twice), missed the first two games of the pre-season, and left the third game after only a few snaps........

this could be an issue that lingers......willis isn't the only one with injury concerns........

This thread is making me so happy... finally a direct confrontation with the "Steinbach was an obvious pick" theory, which belongs on a grassy knoll somewhere.

TD still has to show that his moves will produce a winner, but anyone who thinks that the alternatives were obvious has not been thinking hard enough about how complicated a balance of skill and luck is necessary to build a winner. TD has not had much luck yet with certain picks panning out, and he needs some. That, however, does not necessarily mean that his choices were not sensible when he made them. This year will tell us a lot.

Go Bills!
